Respray @$400

Ya, difficult to get a respray that low unless one has connections.

 

I got my car resprayed at $700 at a workshop in Alexandra. I asked a few shops for quotes and it ranged from $650 to $750.

Well i believe whatever you pay is whatever you get. If its a full car respray it is always good if they remove major parts like bumpers, bonnets, rubber trims etc properly. If not you'll get over spray on those trims and it gets real ugly if its not taped up properly. Moreover after a respray of course i'll look good. But over time if the paint they use is sub standard then you'll get poppings or when polishing your color will fade. My gf's swift resprayed her bonnet and front bumper for only 150 but while polishing the clothe changed to the car color which was rather frustrating yet amusing.

You guys gotta be kidding me... a good respray shop like Yew Lip normally charges upwards of 1.1K for a full respray of the same colour.....

 

Some of the more reputable shops charge even more for the same job... I just can't believe how cheap it can be... haha, any good recommendations pls PM.

Singapore spray paint shops typically are on the higher side when compared to Malaysia.

 

Mainly due to the cost of rental, and labor.

as for the type of paint. that depends. the guys in Malaysia can be using premium stuff, and the local guys using so so stuff.

 

from the usual forums, the better guys charge a premium of around 1K high to 2K mids for same color. add about 1K if there's a color change.

also, they usually are pack back-to-back. turn around 2 weeks. ie: leave the car today, collect it back around 14 days later.

 

if the guy is comfortable with going into Malaysia n leaving it there for say 3-5 days. that's fine. but one has to consider the risk and inconvenience of traveling up and down (just for spraying the car. unless, one goes up for shopping and holiday etc).

 

so, who's the better spray shops in Singapore?

i know of one in Sin Ming 3rd floor. LYB i think. always see those exotic cars there.

 

Yew Lip is another name commonly mentioned.

 

anymore else? there must be alot more Spray shops in this island no?

If no issue with DIY:-

Buy many aerosol spray paint cans

Dismantle all wheels

Dismantle bumpers if not to be same colour as car body

Seal all parts to be of different colour.

Enjoy DIY spray-painting the car under a sheltered place, not under tree (the birds may get excited)

If spray paint colour too limited, buy enamel paint of the desired colour and buy metal insecticide sprayer

Do not forget to buy some turpentine/thinner for diluting to your requirement (carry any of them on board public transport is an offence)
