I'm adding a Solution 3 for consideration:

Those mosquitoe-roller screens! I had that installed at my current place. Works just fine. None of my cats are testing it, no cuts and all... and best of all...It really kept out a whole swarm of insects over the wet/damp season (wasn't actually installing the insect screen with insects in mind, if you get my meaning ... :D )

Ventilation is good and is practically 'invisible' as well

Can show a pic? Never see before.

One problem I had with those plastic mesh last time is that cleaning is so difficult, esp when their loose fur "assisted" in trapping more dust. In the end, I just threw all away.

Is this sort of similar to the mosquito roller screen? I googling for pics also.

Went home and thought about it.

Could be several issues:

1. Litter box not cleared and cleaned often enough - to clear min once a day and have the whole tray cleaned thoroughly weekly

2. Use of inappropriate strong smelling agent to clean the litter box - use non scented or mildly scented detergents. Don't use Dettol as poisonous to them. To get rid of smell after washing, drop a few drops of rice vinegar + some boiling water into the tray. Let it stand for 5 min, rinse thoroughly and let it dry for a day or 2. Best can let it dry in the sun.

3. wrong type of litter used - this you will need to experiment

4. Placement of litter box is wrong - never place it in a busy area like a walkway. They want privacy when doing their business, like us.

5. Not enough litter boxes - since it's only one cat in the household, by right one box is sufficient. But can try adding another box somewhere else in the house to experiment.

Got one very good book I want to recommend to all cat owners, whether you are having issues with your cats. It's by Vicky Hall "The Cat Detective". Very informative, with workable solutions (you need to tailor to your peculiar circumstances) and written in a very witty, readable manner. Can borrow from the Library. I borrowed twice to re-read.

hi kxbc!! your solutions were great!

my cousin tried ALL at once and it worked!

seems like he was doing alot of things wrong.

he changed the litter from some crappy jap brand to vitakraft haha.

now the food part, cousin got some samples of proplan (i think not kitten one) from his friend and the cat just whacks it all down omnomnomnom.

seems like everything is gonna be fine.

i want to see him soon! ahaha!

Thank you. I guess its been a long time. I only remember I posted some questions concerning my 1.5 year old Siamese Cross who fell 5 storeys down about a year and a half back. Broke both hind legs in the process. Almost on the verge of making the painful decision to put her to sleep as Mount Pleasant said the fall could have caused a rupture in her bladder (was passing out blood in her urine). [bigcry]

After some reassurances from Dr Tan, we decided to proceed with the surgery to insert 2 metal rods in each of her hind legs. Now, she is up and running as if the fall had not happened. Cats are really miraculous creatures! Of course, we learn the lesson and stop opening the windows when no one is around.

My black persian fell from the 7th floor just 2 months ago. She loves to sit on the window ledge. We didn't even realised she was missing until we went out and were walking to the car.

Saw her lying on the ground on top of a manhole, she was breathing very very hard and was bleeding from her mouth and i thought she was a goner. Brought her down to the vet and miraculously, she was discharged the next day and within a week, she was up and running, just suffered from a bad shock, a slightly cut tongue, scratches on her lower jaw and a bruised ego.

Now my windows are always closed until i have the time to fixed up the mesh.

3 cats, 1 dog, 4 rabbits, 2 chickens, 2 hamsters. Wow!

Are your cats mischievious? 3 of my gang are of this breed, ie, Asian, sleek, big ears etc, and all 3 of them are cheeky. All the naughty things done by them. But they are also the most manja and "dare". Are yours the same?

Yep. Cats are your friends, you can't dominate them. They are "cool-er" animals. Attitude!

Dogs are pack animals, they need an alpha dog.

Bunnies are just like cats, they will greet you and lick you. Some will lick your fingers while others lick your toes. [laugh] They snap too when angry (when the chickens peck at them) and they do their crazy "bunny hop" when excited. Oh and they do not dig tunnels, they do mini-excavations and then move on to do another renovation elsewhere.

Used to have geese (aggressive critters) and ducks. Baby ducks are cute, they shake their booty alot. They go crazy when it rains.

Some of the victims of my cat...

Check out this site for what I'm talking about. Cannot be too sure if this was the company I ordered from as I think the company name is correct but remembered the address to be in Toa Payoh instead of AMK leh ...

http://www.magneticscreen.com.sg/productsindex.asp

In anycase, the product is similar. If you guys really want, I'll check to see if I still have the invoice for the company I ordered from ... and I could take pics later

The pet screen looks good. Seems easy to remove and clean. What's the damage psf (or whatever measurement they use to calculate)?

They charge by the area so you will have to ask them for a quote based on dimensions. They will have to come on site for exact measurements. The type I installed are tehroller insect screens for my living room windows and a portion of my kitchen window.

Thanks bro, much appreciated, I'll give them a call and have them make a quote, too expensive, will have to DIY, presently both my cats here, I don't mesh up the windows, and only one looks out the window, and when I tell him to be careful, seemingly he understands. He sits on the table and admire the view. I'm only worried when my kitten comes in...main gate will have to mesh up for sure, new to the place, my other two older ones will not even bother to step past the front door.
