Car Bumpy at around 160-170KM/H

Maybe yr tire pressure too high.

 

Try lowering it abit n see how.

 

Also if e shocks r worn, e ride can b choppy as e wheel bil bounce abit after e bump.

I am facing a problem with my car. My suspension is cheapo hotbits suspension with adjustable damper.

 

The problem I am facing is that when I go at 160-170, the car is rather bumpy going on uneven roads. I am just afraid there could be wheel lift causing me to los control of the car.

 

What could be the cause of this bumpiness? Could it be damper settings too soft, thus not absorbing the forces or too hard or do I need to change suspension.

 

Btw, I didn't face this issue with a BMW E39 528i quite sometime back. Its using blistein suspension (not coilovers, just normal springs and dampers). Its quite stable even at 170-180. Of course, I do get quite a bit of body roll when cornering compared to my current Toyota.

no toyota is stable at 160-170km/hr, its a law of physics [:p]

my goodness sake toyota is meant for city driving a nd of course price is different la u stup***

later u buy qq and complain at 90km/h not firm and blame the suspension lol

yes u say toyota and bmw may have same weight but has diff tech and dun u know that bmw or merc wsteering become heavy when its hitting 100km/h??? toyota 100 and above become more light

Hmm.... tyres..... Why I never thought of that? Yes I usually over inflate my tyres to improve FC a little. I always pump 290Kpa. Maybe thats why its bumpy.

Did u do a 4 wheel computerised alignment after changing shocks.

 

Wrong alignment settings can cause car to b jittery.

 

No, my alignment is ok. Just did it 3 months back after change a wheel bearing. My problem is not car jittery or floating feeling. It just bumpy ride. Car jumps alot over bumps on the road. Its as if the suspension is not absorbing the bumps at all. However, it not bouncy (car not bouncing up and down which could indicate damper faulty). Thus I think my dampers are still OK.

BMW n Toyota handling not same.

 

BM 160kmh very stable. Toyota wil feel disconnected with e road, especially in e corners.

 

Did u only face e problem after changing yr suspension/shocks? Then they r to bame. Otherwise uts e cars fault.

 

Nope, I don't have any problems with corners. In fact the Toyota's handling is far superior compared to the E39.

He drives a ST185 Celica GT-Four, which has rally pedigree but it is now 17 or 18 years old. Most aftermarket suspension is tunable but the problem is whether the owners know how to tune it properly. Else you can make the car handle worse than stock.

 

How do you know I am driving a Celica?

If yr tire-pressure sud b abt 210-220koa but u pump 290kpa, i think yr ride wil b very bumpy.

 

Try to follow e manufacturers recommended pressure n maybe u can go abt 10-20kpa up/down from that. Too much n handling wil b greatly affected.

Then i guess e celias chassis/suspension is still in very good condition.

Surely safer for all of us if he drives at lower speed instead, if he is really that so ignorant

i think it was due to those "2005" old tyre lar.... already "harden" ..... [laugh]

His tire 2005 series? Safer to replace them with dynamic wheel balancing (had two nos. 6-year old tire burst experience: no fun in it)

I would not be surprised if there is any carcass delamination humps on tire

bro krado, what is it so nice about?? if i am u, i will park at another carpark + remind my family to watch out for any celica... bumpy road 170km/hr... carpark at least can reach 120km/hr... [laugh][laugh]
