Which HP desktop is suitable for SOHO

For some one to go sim lim, he must be one who know well enough about Software and Hardware of PC first. if not, when problem arised dont know how to trouble shoot.

Those are ok one. Over the past 10 years, I have owned 2 of those DIY machines from SLS. And I know nuts about computers.

 

Both worked well with no issues at all, except for a blown power supply for the existing one (after 4 years usage).

I choose HP desktop because I need the 3 yr extended warranty. Breakdown is bad for business. SOHO is always trying to save time and spend them wisely to secure business and to keep customer happy. Time is not enough need to concentrated on the core task.

IF you don't see yourself needing a mobile warrior setup, don't get a lappy. Get a desktop.

 

Bigger screen size makes a helluva difference. And a full sized keyboard.....

 

I got a laptop, because....it's been a while, and I forgot why I didn't like laptops.

 

Now I remember.

Yes, I have work on laptop, good only for browning and not suitable for working over few hrs. I am looking at a 22" LED monitor to let my eyes have a easy time.

Hello To All Computer Gurus and It Experts

 

I need adv, which of the HP desktop is suitable for for my one-man home online business. Strictly doing simple webpage, publish product info, invoicing, stock keeping and off course from time to time surf MCF and other forums.

 

a) HP Pro 3000 Business PC - s$ 999 + monitor

b) HP Pavillion All in one 2500-5118dPC - $1,599

 

All responses will be much appreciated

your concern need to be more on your backups since you are running a business....

Price is not the determining factor, quality and reliability is my key concern. Hopefully the business unit is more robust and can take more intensive usage than the home PC

Can $1200 to $1300 get a lappy? I never buy lappy before. All company owned. My home PC is those cheap DIY type. $600 only ex software.

 

 

yes. if you are not playing game with it the its okay.

 

but since you are not playing game i will recommend getting a Mac book.

then i think its good to get a DIY instead. But not sure if TS is good with it or not.

Anyway, for power supply unit. I will normally sell away the one that come with the casing and install a better one inside. Some come with 3 to 5 years warranty.

what are the main programme you are using.

 

Sound like Mac or apply could be your answer if the programme you using is going able to support Mac.

I start self learning to use computer when I was about 40yrs old in yr 1990. So I don't really want to go back to sq one and learn how to use another System OS. I have thought of trying Linux but self learning is time consuming and I am the type who don't like to attent classes.

Yes my last three desktops were all DIY by my sibling, my job is just to make payment and service coffee, that's all.

 

PS I wish all desktop PCs will one day be like TV sets and can last for 10yrs without service or maintenance.

I understand how you feel. recently going to upgrade my system soon. (last upgrade is 2 years back.)

Was reading through some of the hardwarezone articles. Realise that PC DIY now is like an arts. Make me excited and tempted to take it as a hobby and constantly upgrade my PC .

I am younger than you but I remember in the 70s, Telefunken was a reliable brand. 10+ years still good.

 

If you are considering the HP option, have you tried out their service centre? A colleague bought a HP lappy and it died in like months though he had it repaired for free at its service centre. Took 1 week though. Can your business tahan 1 week downtime assuming you have no other system to work with?

Anyway, now you bring it out. TS might want to consider getting to Com instead. If the usage does not required high Tech system to run.

you might want to consider getting a Desktop and a Net book or a LVT Laptop (in case desk top kapo and in case you need to work on the go). Also do get a External hard disk for main storage (back up in desktop.) so that you can alter between Lappy and Desktop on the go or in case of Com breaking down.

 

Since we are at this, Might as well get a Wifi Tettering Enable Smart phone. IF TS dont want to get a Andriod. can get a Nokia Smart phone with Wifi.

No problem , currently i have two laptops and one desktop. Planning to retire one laptop by yr end and by mid next yr the desktop.

My siblings and me had our first TV - Bluespot ( from Germany) which my father purchased from Singapore first TV exhibition held in Singapore Polytechnic , that was yr 1966 or 67. The unit last more than 10yrs.

trust me.. they are all the same....

 

low end stuff does not mean less quality n reliability.. high end high performance also does not mean good reliability...

 

for your usage, no need for high performance stuff.... average one more then sufficient.

there is next business day onsite support for PC.... but of course you must pay for it...

In my opinion , this brand has shifted its focus to corporate sales rather than end users sales. In many companies i work for in my assignments, i see Dell getting more tenders. HP, very rare already. And oh, alot of after sales horror stories. :/

Never used HP lappy or desktop before. But I really like their office printers. Damn good workhorse. And easy to remedy paper jams etc. But they are expensive so my office is currently using Lexmark printers which are nowhere near the quality of the HP printers.
