Hi to all bros,

As per topic, should I sell my lancer EX?

My lancer EX 1.5GLS is 1yr8mth old

(Non sports edition, basic model, don't even have sports rims and leather seats).

I bought it cheap when COE was just $2 and now a few irritating dealers are offering me $52k +/- and haunting me to sell them my car because I approached them for a quote few weeks ago.

Thing is, I am half hearted because I kinda fall in love with my car already after 1 yr plus with it.

Ive been taking such good care of it (polish every few months, wash myself every week, servicing it at agent etc) and I get decent milage/comfortable ride in return.

With all the controversy on the upcoming proton Inspira taking the form of the Lancer EX,

coupled with me starting to set my eyes on the facelift Forte Koup, I am wondering now weather I should take the plunge and go for it. Initially I was considering the Sirocco but decided against it because I do not want to be financially tied down by the car by taking a loan. My dad will also be against me buying the Roc so I guess the Forte Koup would be my next best choice.

I do not have much criteria in a car, still a young chap with no family of my own so 2dr, 4 dr, fast, slow, anything goes as long as its decent to my eyes haha.

Thanks for ur input in advance [thumbsup][thumbsup][thumbsup]

i totally understand your thoughts.

at this moment, selling your car will be a profit.

but you know that, sell high means buy high too.

i got to agreed that the new Proton will be having similar looks to Lancer EX.

if i were you, i also sian 1/2. =P

if you really like your ride, stay put. why?

it's a 1.6L car and next is also another 1.6L car though it's a 2-dr. get my drift?

my opinion for you is,

1) change it if you think you will not drive for as long as the next years to come till near scrap or scrapped.

2) keep it if you are prepared to make losses after Proton comes into place. =P

it's a 50-50 game. hehehe..~

Actually im not really concerned about the proton model coming in, just 1 of my lame reasons to bring myself to change my car lol.

Wah thx ah hahaha. I'd probably rather take cab then drive the inspira.

No offence to Proton owners but I just can't belive proton can do just a cut and paste on a existing model and brand it their own.

Even ur car can fetch a high price, but the price of a car now so expensive. No point selling and buy another one. Unless u sell and dun buy car. Since your car only 1 yr plus, just continue driving.

i find you are contradicting yourself.

apparently you are tempted to sell your beloved car because you can make a profit out of it due to low coe price and high current car price, yet you want to buy a new car after your sale, which doesnt make sense because your net outlay will be even more.

next you say you dont have much criteria for a car and any car, fast slow whatever you also can. yet you are compelled to sell your car because the Proton Inspira, which is a Lancer clone, is coming, so you want to sell to avoid being seen as a Proton. Contradicting again.

And you say you want to buy a Sirocco, which is anything but a 'anything' car, again contradicitng your above statement.

somehow i guess your parents pay for your car and you are still receiving pocket money yeah ?

when you shortlist Koup and Scirocco as one of ur options.. doubt your stand of "I do not have much criteria in a car, still a young chap with no family of my own so 2dr, 4 dr, fast, slow" is still valid.

and i seriously think changing lancer EX 1.5 to Koup 1.6 is pointless.. NA 1.5 to NA 1.6. even the 2L NA Koup isn't a significant jump.

Keep yr car.

In long term, you will appreciate the convenience and practicality of a 4 dr saloon.

Cheaper insurance premium than 2 dr coupe too.

i would sell and pocket the profit.. go for a trip to reward myself for the windfall or alternatively get a cheaper 2nd hand car and reduce my monthly commitment.. it isnt cheap to own a car you know.. being a young chap.. i would rather save up the $$ for my future use be it for wedding or a house.
