JaydenSTI 1st Gear December 22, 2010 Share December 22, 2010 After seeing much on the recent COE hike, in which killing off some many ppl's idea on getting some B&B cars, have a though came thru my mind, would it be better off for COE classification to tag with the car OMV rather than the engine capacity?? As most B&B car have low OMV (Jap, Kor, Chi, MY......) compared with low CC luxury car with much higher OMV (Ger, Ita, Bri.....) We do you guys think??? ↡ Advertisement

JaydenSTI 1st Gear December 22, 2010 Author Share December 22, 2010 if demand is higher on lower OMV cars the COE will still be higher, that will be fair competition among B&B car potential buyers, not like now luxury car buyers who wanted to get a lower CC cars are jacking up the price for Cat A at the moment..... IMHO, exotic luxury car buyers (OMV >75k prehaps) should be paying 10x more than what we are paying for Cat B or Cat E now.......

Civic3106 1st Gear January 13, 2011 Share January 13, 2011 if demand is higher on lower OMV cars the COE will still be higher, that will be fair competition among B&B car potential buyers, not like now luxury car buyers who wanted to get a lower CC cars are jacking up the price for Cat A at the moment..... IMHO, exotic luxury car buyers (OMV >75k prehaps) should be paying 10x more than what we are paying for Cat B or Cat E now....... How about only one catagory for COE and the finial price you pay will be : $ X / $10K * OMV So imagine this month COE is $20K, the COE for the following will be: QQ $20K/$10K * $7K = $14K Altis $20K / $10K * $14K = $28K E200 $20K / $10K * $50K = $100K RR $20K / $10K * $800k = $1.6M Fair right. Carer 2nd Gear January 13, 2011 Share January 13, 2011 This is a relevant point. typically, a lower cc car would mean a cheaper more affordable car. but this is not true. we have 1.4 TC cars now. As technology advances and standards become stricter, the old policy based on capacity of cars no longer holds true. WHich is why it is healthy to always review current policies to keep up with time. all the more we need opposition to voice out and prompt the goverment for reviewing of policies. ↡ Advertisement
