Dafansu Turbocharged January 13, 2011 Share January 13, 2011 exactly, treat it like a yellow box, so far i have no issues with this "give way to bus" scheme since day one..i noticed only those impatient ones who likes to rev engine eg. taxi drivers got problems i think its good that they come out with this..else given the mentality in sg roads that not much pple gives way, how is the bus going to filter out? before this scheme, i gave way to buses(which is nothing wrong), and the cab driver horn me, although in front itself is a 1 km jam..whats the point? i can't move, and he also can't move, whats the point of horning? give and take, i like driver like you ↡ Advertisement

Mach Clutched January 14, 2011 Share January 14, 2011 (edited) I think it works like a yellow box, just stop before the line that is marked if there is a bus exiting the bay. The arrows only indicate that you should slow down and watch for buses. Incidentally, I find that a lot of bus drivers do not know how to use this new give-way rule. Sometimes the bus bay is pretty long, and the exit yellow box is painted right at the end of the bus bay. I see bus drivers stop in the middle of the bus bay, where the arrows are, and wait to exit instead of moving forward and waiting to exit at the yellow box. In this case, is it breaking the rule if I don't stop to give way to them ? They are not even near the yellow box and if I stop it means I am stopping at the arrows rather than at the line. Vhtfhwlego Supercharged January 14, 2011 Share January 14, 2011 It works like a giveway line at slip road if not like a zebra crossing. However you need to focus on the signal lights of the bloody bus rather then the whole figure of a pedestrian or the whole vehicle. I would filter out to other lanes to avoid such mis-judgement and I cannot figure why that I risk myself for a signal light which I do not even know whether the bus driver will use it in the first place. JKD Neutral Newbie January 14, 2011 Share January 14, 2011 I had some near-misses at the box. Bus just charge out of the bus bay just because they have right of way. It's just like pedestrains just cheong suddenly across zebra crossings. So my dear friends, be aware and slow down when approaching bus stops with buses in them. ↡ Advertisement
