Aveo 1.4A versus Verna 1.4A

I'm considering getting a used car yr 05 or 06. In terms of build quality, power, maintainence and FC, which car is better? Any owner here mind sharing your view please. Thanks.

For built quality my vote goes to Verna. Power wise i think both should be the same cant comment much cause i own the Verna 1.6 and Aveo1.4. FC i think Aveo slightly better but Verna has better sound insulation IMO. Maintenance wise definitely goes to Verna due to better reliability, my aveo used to stall with no particular reason.But the Verna can really take some thrashing.

Thanks for sharing. Yes my preference is also towards Verna as i quite like the shape and design. I just want make sure i don't miss out any good contender of the same price and capacity as Verna.

I drive a verna 1.4A. A full tank with mixture of 92 and 97 can last about 510 before reserve light comes out. comfort wise its okay for the driver, front passenger and space for 2 behind. A third person would make it quite sqeeezy. Boot space is rather big for a car of this size. Power wise don't expect too much from a 1.4A. But it's good enough for singapore's roads! but if your budget allows then get avante la. better imo

I also vote for verna. Tested both when looking for second hand car. Verna looks nicer and I felt the build quality better. Now my Verna 3 years already and more than 100000km and still no major problems.

having driven a number of auto chevys, please listen to me when i say the chevy autobox totally CMI.

 

if u want to buy a manual chevy then i got nothing to say. if u must have auto, go for the verna. uglier by a lot but it is that much better too...

 

edit: no offence to chevy owners. the car does look nicer than verna (one of the uglier hyundais, can fight with matrix), but no substance one.. eeeyer...

Actually Chevy manual gearbox is even more CMI. Definitely the Verna is a much better car overall than Aveo.

the only think i like about the chevy aveo would be the suspensions. others might differ from my statement. however i too would prefer a verna. but if budget allows why not consider the advante?

Saw the New Verna running around in China. Don't think it look as nice as the Aveo.

 

your image of the new Aveo is wrong if wan compare to New Verna. Correct chevrolet aveo to compare is the Chevrolet "Sonic" model in the same cat as New Verna.

After reading all the posts, looks like Verna should be a better car than Aveo. One of the reason i didn't consider Avante is due to price. Verna is more affordable and good choice for budget car, the build quality and engine should be much better than Getz, Picanto and Rio. When spoken to a friend who owned Getz and Verna before, he strongly advise me to avoid Getz.

If getting 05/06 aveo, i think might as well get the verna. [:)] I also saw the new verna running in china, i wld say the design is nicer than the old verna, it looks a bit like the city. [rolleyes]

I drive an Aveo and have a fren driving the verna, Honestly, Aveo's looks is nothing to shout about if on stock basis, pickup is extremely slow on low-end..Only plus point I can find is for a hatch, space is relatively ok..Tried driving my fren's verna before once, as he was overseas and I helped him take of the car..Relatively good power for a 1.4 good enough for sg day-to-day driving..Doesnt suck petrol as badly as my aveo..Sighz :blink:
