Dualie Clutched February 9, 2011 Share February 9, 2011 My wife has been pestering me to get a 7 seater since as long as I can remember... Especially now that I've got 3 kids (2 on booster seat, 1 in baby car seat). My Megean getting a little cramp when making regular trip to Msia. Since recently got some extra $$$, I take a look at sgcarmart and surprise to see Honda Odyssey for less than 50k. With COE expiring in 2015, depreciation will be less than 10k per year. Right? So do the bros here think it's good value for $$$? http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/listing...RC=10&AVL=2 And Honda Stream (Old model) for less than 45k... http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/listing...RC=11&AVL=2 Actually wanted the Touran, but no attractive 2nd hand car for sale... Any opinion is greatly appreciated. ↡ Advertisement
Enye Hypersonic February 9, 2011 Share February 9, 2011 Stream might be a little small for your needs while Ody would be a good size. But at 8K depreciation for Ody, I feel that it is very high for a 6 year old car.

Civic6228 6th Gear February 9, 2011 Share February 9, 2011 Dear TS, If you have the budget, go for the Ody... however being a 2.4, the running cost will be higher, more petrol, higher road tax etc. If i am not wrong the old 1.7 L Stream is using the older VTEC engine. Go for the 2 L version if possible as it is using the newer iVtec engine. Good Luck with your search....
Karu 6th Gear February 9, 2011 Share February 9, 2011 Oddy will be better for trips to M'sia. More space for cargo...
Whathefish 5th Gear February 9, 2011 Share February 9, 2011 for 5-6 yrs ody ..maybe u need to repair aircon..but engine still best.. but is it true that older the car the FC will be higher? how much diff?
Enye Hypersonic February 9, 2011 Share February 9, 2011 May I know what's a reasonable depreciation value for 2nd hand 2.4l car? Because I was in your position 1.5 years ago(also from Megane to MPV), I cannot bring myself to pay so much now in terms of depre. I also don't think that the 2nd hand dealers paid the last owner very much more than scrap price + body compared to 1.5 years ago. But they are definitely pricing the 2nd hand cars much higher than 1.5 years ago due to the high Cat B coe levels now. If you really need to buy, then try to bargain it down as much as you can and ensure that the car is in a good condition.

Any opinion is greatly appreciated. hi, must it be really down to just this 2 choices? recently i have a friend also looking ard for a 6-7 seater. initially his first choice was just the oddy or citroen picasso i went with him to turf city a few weeks ago and tried the following cars. subaru exiga - nice interior but very underpower honda oddy - we didnt manage to test drive mitsubishi grandis - found one that he like but realised that it was sold, so we didnt manage to test drive. mazda 5 - power is adequate ( with 4 adults in the car ), interior is quite nice also. stream - he dun want coz boot space too small. picasso- oso sold le. so cant test drive. in the end, he told me he will be going for honda edix coz he wont always be ferrying 7 people. if there are indeed 7 people, he will just ask them to squeeze. but among all the above, i like picasso n mazda 5 best. maybe u can take a look at them? (although picasso is out of your budget la) http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.ph...537&DL=2050 http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.ph...754&DL=1027
