But if blue lights or chingay cars are your thing thats a different story haha.

CHINGAY CARS...haha!

It never cease to amaze me everytime I see those cosmetically-enhanced cars with aftermarket-HID+White foggies+ aftermarket DRL white LEDs..

machiam like Singapore road is poorly lid...yet useless during actual poor-visibility conditions.[:p]

As others have pointed out, if you want to install a fog light to help with visibility:

1. make sure you install one with yellow light (ignore those super bright white ones)

2. the fog light only helps if you drive at low speed in low visibility conditions

For driving in expressway speeds, fog light is quite useless for this purpose.

I thought I was told that it is an offense to on the fog light under normal driving condition? Anyone heard about that?

I've been driving cars with fog light for so many years and the only time I've it on was by mistake

Hi bros/sis,

Just wanna ask if adding fog lighting does help with visibility. Especially on rainy days.

I find it quite hard to see lane markings at times during rainy days. So have been contemplating in adding fog light if it does help.

Hopefully bros/sis here can give me some tips on whether it helps or not.

Considering to ask my AD on the cost of adding one.

Thanks

After reading all the comments, it seems like nobody here really understand the real purpose of fog light.

Fog light is not to help you see the road but to make yourself visible to others from far far away in a foggy condition.

You will appreciate it when driving in some countries where roads are horribly foggy at times. Rear & front fog light is a must to have.

Over here, the closest thing I can think of is during heavy rainy days. But again head light will just be good enough here. Other than that, it seems like they are just for deco purpose because somehow people here think car looks nice with fog light.

From Wikipedia:

"Front fog lamps provide a wide, bar-shaped beam of light with a sharp cutoff at the top, and are generally aimed and mounted low. They may be either white or selective yellow. They are intended for use at low speed to increase the illumination directed towards the road surface and verges in conditions of poor visibility due to rain, fog, dust or snow. As such, they are often most effectively used in place of dipped-beam headlamps, reducing the glareback from fog or falling snow, although the legality varies by jurisdiction of using front fog lamps without low beam headlamps.

Use of the front fog lamps when visibility is not seriously reduced is often prohibited (for example in the United Kingdom), as they can cause increased glare to other drivers, particularly in wet pavement conditions, as well as harming the driver's own vision due to excessive foreground illumination.

The respective purposes of front fog lamps and driving lamps are often confused, due in part to the misconception that fog lamps are necessarily selective yellow, while any auxiliary lamp that makes white light is a driving lamp. Automakers and aftermarket parts and accessories suppliers frequently refer interchangeably to "fog lamps" and "driving lamps" (or "fog/driving lamps"). In most countries, weather conditions rarely necessitate the use of fog lamps, and there is no legal requirement for them, so their primary purpose is frequently cosmetic. They are often available as optional extras or only on higher trim levels of many cars. Studies have shown that in North America more people inappropriately use their fog lamps in dry weather than use them properly in poor weather."

btw, has anyone here seen anyone who uses rear fog lights in singapore?

Yes!!! Damn irritating.

I am not too sure whether they turned it on accidentally or what, but i have to say in S'pore rear fog light is not necessary at all. Maybe it helps to create accident.

Your car does not come with rear fog light?

Sometimes you see one car with unusual bright rear red lights, in comparison with whole stretch of cars along the street. Then you know this guy is doing something funny.

I don't know. Personally i can't miss it, as it is pretty eye catching at night.
