i am a commoner. due to my stupidity, i cannot see the whole picture why the pay has to be so ridiculously high. i am not a talent. and my greatest regrets is not that i cant bring my parent to the universal studio. it is not a miss singapore girl competition. i cant see the whole picture when someone sit in there making decision for my place have to keep thinking about bringing families, relatives for leisure. i can see the picture that when the gal get in and if her parents are healthy, her regret will soon be ceased as she can then bring her parents go universal studio everyday for the rest of her term in.

i can see where u are coming from... i also dont understand y their pay is absurd... [laugh]

in this world.... there's no fairness... i work my socks off and my boss is enjoying the fruits of my labour....we, the commoners.... supporting the 5% rich / powerful people... the only way is to work hard and move upwards by any means... and then another person will ask you the same question when you are up there... [laugh]

i dont believe singaporean decide the political system... i do not wan to see 'taiwan to be' parliament...

i believe in getting local talent.. groom them and work for the interest of Singapore... Policy cannot be decided by commoners like us... We do not 'see' the whole picture... and of course i do not agree to many policies which our government had implement or speaks

ex: our dear PM had answered regards to the upgrading plan on Hougang... He shot his foot by giving such answer...we need someone better than him and more transparent in the whole system

Frankly I would like to know IF you are PM, what answer you will give ??

To me that answer he gave was totally correct and the truth and YES it hurts, hurts me too. There can never be a fair system, not now, not forever.

Even in communist rule, there will still be someone having more than others. Look at China - still communist meh ??

Each day, you will smile more to someone and less to others, you give extra scoop of vege to the Chio Bu or more Char Siew to the Hunk..

I'm not the ruling party supporter, you can read my posts from day 1 I join MCF.

I truly dislike the kneejerk reflex policies from so many of our Ministries that I find it distasteful to pay them so much.

CORRECT [thumbsup]

Unless absolutely necessary, (eg, investigate fraud etc), they won't be so free to look up on which individual voted them. Or even zoom down to a particular group of people like the civil servants. All these are just them playing mind tricks. Besides, to go reopen and recount the votes, they need all political parties to be present too.

hmmm... i dun know how transparent SG really is... but on the underlined part.. you wont know if its 100% so.

sad to say.. many opposition candidates aint as polished as PAP's.

YOu wanna be a politician but cannot speak well? guess this person better not disgrace himself. Lina chiam fared badly in the last debate... the worst was at the part she lost her thoughts when Melissa Hyak asked her a question. She like machiam stoned...

my brother and I cringed at that sight.. and my brother commented that she was probably thinking : oh darn.. did i switch off the gas before i left the house.....

that was more like an absonce seizure.....she literally threw a fit [laugh][laugh][laugh]

his answer is hard truth..... [laugh]

However, government dont belong to PAP or PAP dont own the government...

If all the constituencies apart from non-PAP are in the upgrading plan, why not opposition parties?

Upgrading is a nation-wide project....

My answer will be: Despite hougang is non-PAP constituency, we will proceed with the upgrading. However, the upgrading project takes years and unfortunately, hougang is at the back of the queue....

this answer will be more/less appropriate and less intrusive... However, it seem to me our PM is just like another senior management personnel....

Vote us or u get nothing

In private sector context, deliver or you will be shipped out!!! [;)]

To me... The student asked a good question of how our garment behave. First of all, upgrading of flat is using our tax payer money... Be it with staying in clementi, east coast or woodland. The tax paying system is across the country.

Now this pm said by voting this you get this... Aren't supposed upgrade should be using everybody money?

To me, simply as that... Our garment system is ABUSING the the fund.

BALLOT SECRECY

There are 2 significant threats in any election where voting is done using paper ballots - ballot box stuffing and undue influence of voters' choices by impersonation.

Counterfeiting of ballot papers and stuffing the lot into the ballot box cannot be completely ruled out. There is also the threat of "chained balloting", where the perpetrator hands a marked ballot paper to a voter to cast and buy a blank ballot paper from the voter on return from the polling station. He then marks the blank paper for the next voter from whom he can buy another blank vote. Finally, there is also the possibility of persons impersonating voters whom they know will not be casting their votes.

Serial number on ballot papers

Having numbered ballot papers is still the best effective method to counter these threats.

The serial numbers on ballot papers enable strict accounting of all ballot papers issued and cast. That way, the number of papers found in the ballot box at the end of the election can be reconciled with the number of papers issued during the poll and the number of papers stocked before the poll began. This is a means to deal with the threat of ballot boxes being stuffed with false ballot papers.

Ballot papers have to be numbered to provide evidence if there is an allegation of impersonation, i.e. that a voter has cast his vote pretending to be someone else. This is done if the court orders so, by matching the suspicious ballot paper with the counterfoil, on which the voter's registration number is recorded. If proven, the vote can then be subtracted from the declared election results. Without the serial number on the ballot paper, it will be difficult to establish such an allegation, and to adjust the declared election results accordingly.

While some argue that it would be better to nullify an entire election if there is any such electoral fraud, calling for a fresh election would be too costly for taxpayers and traumatic for the electorates if there are only a few allegations of impersonation.

So, is ballot secrecy compromised by reason of having a serial number?

Theoretically, it is possible for anyone with access to the ballot papers to identify who cast a particular vote. The link between the ballot paper number and the electoral register through the counterfoil does facilitate tracing from a ballot paper to a voter's identity on the register. However, ballot papers can be examined only under strict conditions, and there are safeguards that make it extremely difficult to find out how any particular voter voted.

After the ballot papers are counted, all ballot papers and their counterfoils have to be sealed in the Supreme Court vault for 6 months, after which all the ballot papers and other election documents are destroyed. During those 6 months, these documents can only be retrieved by court order. The court will issue such an order only if it is satisfied that a vote has been fraudulently cast and the result of the election may be affected as a result. Our courts have issued no such order to date.

The serial number on the ballot paper is to protect the integrity of the democratic process, and not to undermine the secrecy of the vote.

The ballot paper number is still a feature of UK parliamentary and local government elections.

[thumbsup] [thumbsup] Cleared up all the doubts once and for all..

Like i say, although technically it is possible to trace who vote for which party, there are legal protection if any parties wanted to retrieve the ballot box and recount it. And like i said, they're not so free to go and trace who voted for who..

PAP has access to all the statistics and demographics for all the constituencies, Electoral boundaries were all drawn to plan to make sure they have a higher chance of winning.

Need a bigger GRC Team, increase the boundary lor. More SMCs drawn is to let the oppositions fight among themselves and dilute their focus on GRCs.

Those identified to become minister, put them in GRC Stronghold and make sure they go through.

In short, PAP decide everything rite?
