Mcf777 Turbocharged June 6, 2011 Share June 6, 2011 I also cycle on pavement (for shortcut), i will give priority to pedestrian. If they give way to me, i will always thank them. I like yr attitude. That's the way all cyclist should do. I met a idiot cyclist (Singaporean). Kept on ringing the bell on a 2 person pathway along sengkang road. CB still want to challenge me to a fight. If im not with my family, sure hoot him ↡ Advertisement

inlinesix Hypersonic June 6, 2011 Share June 6, 2011 yeah that is quite an issue in singapore. whereas in europe, they have designated lanes for bicycle Currently, NParks is working towards building more PCN. To built PCN, NParks need to other governmental department to assist when it cross into their territory. It is difficult for cross governmental department to collaborate due to turf mentality. There are PCN in the East, West & North. All these are not join together to form a giant network & there is no proper PCN in CBD. The existing PCN from Bishan to CBD become Park Disconnector Network when it hit Upper Serangoon Rd/Balastier Rd. Lastly, PCN is build for leisure riding. So, recreational speedster still need to use the road.
Nzy Twincharged June 6, 2011 Share June 6, 2011 If you want to cycle fast its quite impossible to use the pcn. Sure have pedestrians that like to walk on the bike track. lol.

Hypermiler 1st Gear June 8, 2011 Share June 8, 2011 Cyclists assume they have to be accorded rights on footpaths and on the road. If so, make damn cocky sure they obey both footpath etiquette and road traffic laws. No two ways about it. If I can do the above as a responsible cyclist why can't they? I will gladly take on their physical challenge if they ever threaten me on the footpath with or without my family with me. My patience is already tested to the limit. SimonTan 2nd Gear June 8, 2011 Share June 8, 2011 Nowadays FT cyclist too yaya. Last time, Singaporeans never ever ring bell to demand right of way on the pavement. All cyclist will wait behind patiently n wait for chance to overtake. Some will cut thru the grass patch to overtake, which I do it always. I never ring my bell at pedestrians unless danger!! Now cyclist too self centered....why cannt go into grass patch?? Very funny!!

Is the cyclist turning right? If yes, why not? On the other hand, it is quite stupid to make a right turn in this manner under heavy traffic. I will stop at the traffic light & push the bike to lane 1 or 2 to turn.

Spiderman302 2nd Gear June 8, 2011 Share June 8, 2011 I always thought that under the laws of singapore, the cyclist is not supposed to cycle on the pavement but their rightful place is on the road. Anyone can confirm that? I just saw a cyclist belting out profanity when his cycling route on the payement is blocked by cars. included in his tirade were justification that the pavement was meant for cyclist like him. what happens is that alto the cars blocked his way, they left gaps wide enough for humans to pass through but probably did not factor a cyclist laying his claim to the right of way for a stretch that is dividing 2 pavements. the cars were actually parked at the tarmac road entrance seperating 2 ends of the pavement and pendicular to the pavement. By right(law) you cant cycle on pavement if the pavement is not meant for cycling. Pavement like the park connector can cycle. Cycling on the road is extremely dangerous. Just one kiss from the back, you are gone. Therefore I still prefer the left way. ie cycle on pavement expecially with my children. However whenever there is people infront, I always slow down. If the people are walking in the same direction, I will detour on the grass patch. If they are in my direction and can see me, I still slow down so that they dont feel threatened. The problem is cyclist fo too fast and keep ring bell as if they have all the right to cycle on pavement. That irritates people. And suddenly zoom past people, give people a shock. That irritates people as well.
SimonTan 2nd Gear June 8, 2011 Share June 8, 2011 (edited) I am not asainst cyclist or people who don't give way!! I am against cyclist or people who demanded their right of way and forced others to give way to them!! If you don't give way...it's perfectly ok...I am happy with people like you. It's those who keep barging their way thru and demanding the right of way...those are the farkers that I will kick the wheels and make them fall down!! Yaya, so what? I exercise my right not to give way. I have been exercising my rights all this while. Edited June 8, 2011 by SimonTan
