That's the longest recording time I ever have heard of any SD card car recorder, where did u get this?

Locally, no longer available.

Google "DRS1100PRO" and u should able to find it from ebay. But not advisable to get it as it is obsolete already.

Any idea how long the Blackvue able to record continuous ly on a 16GB SD card???

I am not a BV user, but for everyone's benefit, could u care to explain how parking mode is a gimmick? Do u have any bad experience of not capturing what u should have captured?

Makes me worried and thinking of disabling parking mode on my device.

Its juz another term BV use for recording when G-sensor detects car is stationary for a period of time. Recording can be continuous or when G-sensor detects an impact or motion. BV allocates % space known as P-Parking in memory card. Setting including sensitivity and % allocation can be set via s/w. Beware if % allocation is too small and may not meet your requirements (get override easily).

So for me, its parking mode is just a gimmick as I prefer 24hrs recording and upgraded my micro-sd card to 16GB(ard 30 bucks). This is current limitation for BV.

Cheers.

I'm quite satisfied with the Parking mode with its motion detection (up to 2-3m) and impact sensor. No issue with it, gimmick or not. :)

me too.... sometime me finds voice guidance quite annoying. Cheers

Kazuo, many people don't understand the function of Black Vue. China product or other competitor product may have motion detection function but some may only starts to record upon detection and important video maybe missing due to the delay and etc. For Black Vue, when in parking mode, the unit is actually recording but only to the internal memory and not the microSD card. When there is motion or impact been detected, it will retrieve the history of 30 seconds from the internal memory and write to the microSD card. The unit will also record another 30 seconds of video or more after the detection. That's why you have video prior to the motion been detected and memory usage of the card is less. I hope this information is correct, any comment? [cool]

Interestingly the Honeywell Blackbox I have used (also Korean made / sourced) has this feature too - and I always wondered how it was done.

It does also explain why the manual emphazise the "capacitative" (I imagine this to be a capacitor that can hold some very short term storage of electricity) helps to record "pre-event" even when the power is cut off (during the accident).

The two together does make more sense now (though it was never described in the manual).

Neutral Newbie

I am using black vue. Have 3 in the car. Best camera system so far. I have tried the Marc camera and also the Taiwan DOD and therefore can compare. Especially if you need a camera for surveillance when car is parked, I think this one is the best. All 3 connected to car's battery system and no issues. Hope this helps.

My BV with 16Gb micro SD records up to 2.5 days of a typical daily routine - morning journey to workplace, park whole day (at times may use car during office hour), evening journey home, park overnight, repeat.

Set at highest resolution, parking mode active (motion detect). If car is use continously (like a long journey up north), then the amount of recording is lesser (1.5 to 2 days) before overwriting.

Where do you place the cams?

I have two - one looking front, and another at rear looking inwards (so as to see the side of the car).

there is no perfect car cam in the world. despite its shortcoming, its still a good product

but I think its too pricey for basic unit at $3XX/- for its feature/specs and other markets is selling way cheaper. Exclsuive distributor marks up way too high...
