AD vs Non AD servicing

Its time for my 70k servicing for my civic and its past the 3 years warranty. I think we all know that Kah motors charges an arm and a leg. Thinking of doing the servicing elsewhere.

I have sent my car for some minor bodyworks repair at this shop called Leng Wang in Ubi and the experience was pretty good.

They also do servicing and was told it would take about 45 minutes. However, my experiences with Kah Motors is that it can take about 1 hour (for express) and sometimes up to half a day depending on the mileage.

Can someone share if what is done by the AD and the non ADs differs a lot, cos the time spent on servicing seems to differ.

Kah motors will also do the tyre rotation and balancing. Do all workshops have the facilities to do it?

I am quite goondu when it comes to car. I just drive only, thus need advice.

i thk the key to servicing outside is a good reliable and recommended workshop. parts r easily avail outside for the civic so i guess it shouldnt b a big issue. yes, balancing, alignment etc can all b done outside. so if u can find tat wkshop, jus go for it.

AD major service can cost arm n leg plus the waiting time is long also.

Compare normal oil change. AD can take 7 to 9 hrs to do the job but Non AD use less than an hr to do the job. If u can find a gd WS to surpork u. Ur car will be in gd care.

If you are worried about the service quality and workmanship of non-AD workshops, why not go for a well-established ones like Stamford Tyres (Lok Yang branch only.. the rest CMI or Autobacs)?

It is not cheap but sure cheaper than KM.

Get a good workshop. If you can schedule properly, a regular service is less than 30 mins.

I see in my previous kah bills, there is these 2 items called power train and control mechanism system. Are they something that needs to be done with some big a@@ eqt cos their terminology sounds kinda chimology.

Supersonic

giving up a warranty which cost thousands and has already been factored into the new car price juz to save a few dollars here n there every 6-9 mths is [hur][hur] .

in short, go to AD if you want the warranty. go to outside WS with better price if you want to give up the warranty

TS stated that his warranty period is over

I used to drive a city and saw these items as well. Dun worry, power train is just the engine/transmission. my car were serviced outside including major servicing even during warranty period

I doubt so. Drive train is only for MRT operators. -_- And basically everything in the car is part of a control mechanism system.

I would prefer AD anytime unless or otherwise you know any very good workshop for yourself. Definitely you pay more, but totally peace of mind.

If its conti other then Beemer & Merce, AD is better. Jap car any w/s will do, for major 1 like 100k if no recommend w/s then AD.

Simple oil change outside is faster, look for a reliable w/s who r pro in Honda, many out there.

If AD screws up your car, you can screw them upside down. But if outside W/S screws up your car, you get screwed.

When you service outside, insist on original oil filter. Some they use other brands and it is not compatible to your ride. Causing a lot of issues like oil leak, oil filter too long and damaged due to road debris etc.

AD has the equipments to specifically check your car along with the required check list, while outside workshop only do the bare minimum checks and just oil change. Of course, even with check list.. at all depends on the mechanics whether they carry out the check diligently be it they from AD or outside W/S.

AD after servicing, they have testers to drive your car to do a last stage QC before passing the car back to you.

As for why AD has so long waiting time, because they take in so many cars and also have "overnight" cars to clear with whatever manpower they have. Outside workshop really depends on the crowd the workshop have, I ever waited 3 hours just to do an oil change.

At AD, build rapport with the SA and they will take care of your car. Good service has to be two way traffic, be nice to them and they will be nice to you. If they are not nice, there are always another SA to help you. Outside W/S, what you pay is what you get. Unless you are damn lucky to have one friendly and nice mech. More establish w/s like Autosaver, Riverview, MBM.. they are quite service oriented but of course with a slightly higher price.

So at AD, you pay a premium for a piece of mind. At outside workshop, all you need is a reliable mechanic. Your choice. ^_^

Diligently with quality workmanship within an hour can be tight schedule for servicing some/many models.

Servicing can b de done at either AD or non-AD workshop. AD usually takes much longer to get job done.
