HP Touchpad

Oooohhh... what a bummer....

Then again, I prefer to stick to other options which costs only slightly more but have apps/hardware support. (warranty aside)

For a product that is so called discontinued, I won't expect that there'll be much spares support. So even if one wanted to have it repaired at those electronics repair shops, they might not even be able to get replacement parts.

So do consider this as well.

already some rumours of ports WIP. The specs of HP Touchpad doesn't exactly make it a slouch though it isn't range topping e.g. Tegra 2 or 3 lol

Rumours

Well, lack of 3G isn't an issue for me though from my history, maybe it is a matter of time before i much around around and solder a WWAN mini pci-e card inside [cool]

I think it has to be made clear the difference between discontinuing a product and severing product support totally. You can be sure HP will be in for a class action suit the next thing if it drops total support altogether right now. It still has to honour obligatory service warranty for all Touchpads, that's one. That makes the maintenance of parts mandatory if honouring warranty is presumed.

i think you should look at Samsung galaxy Tab 10.1...also come with honeycomb....

I was an opportunistic buyer lah. I don't even consider myself to be in the market for a tablet. Just that the price makes it why not? [laugh]

where is it selling at $99 ? Can't find them

i doubt you can find any in ready stock now. The most you can do is head to HP's Home and Office Online Store and add your email address to their EDM list so they can inform you as and when stocks come and then you dive into the madness, again.

I wonder can the OS be changed???? If so, then it might be viable to buy it and keep your fingers crossed that someone comes up with that modification to convert it to Android.

that's what some are banging on...

I will wait for the specula price on 31aug. Comex.

Hope they can sell $199.

Use it to surf net and msn.

Rumours are that HP may sell the touchpad at Comex with a purchase with purchase option.

So it's unlikely to get one without any purchase.

Don't know if purchase of printer ink allowed.

I want to grab one for memorabilia.

This item will be very valuable after 30 years.

Can wait... long long:P

A purchase with purchase option as mentioned sounds more probable

HP should just revive the bloody damn touchpad. Have been looking at a few videos of webOS and feel that it really has potential.

1. Completely new interface (Weren't IOS and Android in the same position before?)

2. true multitasking

3. Synergy (really godsend when you lose your data)

4. alot others (am no expert:D)

Such a waste. But seriously 599 at launch is indeed too ambitious. Not talking about 99, probably half the price will make it a really hot item.
