HP Touchpad

Anybody managed to lay their hand on a purchase in the wake of the infamous HP announcement?

Press Release

This has since sparked a virtual fire sale with massive numbers of the said product flying off the shelves. However some undecided merchants have not adjusted their prices and there are rumours afoot that such merchants might soon relent, resulting in a second wave of a fire sale frenzy. As of now, finding an unit for sale online is as easy as spotting a hundred dollar bill on your daily walk.

Oooohhh... what a bummer....

Then again, I prefer to stick to other options which costs only slightly more but have apps/hardware support. (warranty aside)

For a product that is so called discontinued, I won't expect that there'll be much spares support. So even if one wanted to have it repaired at those electronics repair shops, they might not even be able to get replacement parts.

So do consider this as well.

There's no 3G... u can only surf when there's a wireless hotspot.

Can use your android phone w/ data as a wireless hotspot, then tether from there.

I wonder can the OS be changed???? If so, then it might be viable to buy it and keep your fingers crossed that someone comes up with that modification to convert it to Android.
