back to 7 to 8 years ago, Singapore roads were full of Corolla XLI (before of Altis the model), thinking to change my 10 years picanto to this model, because cannot afford new car's COE, but search on sgcarmart, "zero" result, [:(]

why??

U are right bro. When my dad got his Corolla XLi 1.5l (Auto) G9 FL model in Feb 2003, we seems to see alot on the roads. Even the LX model (single airbag). Even when we drove to Johor, our Johor relative mentioned that "it seems that all Singaporeans are driving this car". This car is a one good popular car before Hyundai Matrix (Matrix is not that good though).

FC is superb. Drive to KL and back, no need to top up along the way. Achieved about 17km/l. Though ours was 1.5l, the power was great. The current Altis that my dad got 2yrs ago isnt getting anywhere near for FC, only about 13km/l.

The G9 looked uncle though. :D

Actually not only this corolla XLI was very popular back then. I think no matter which era, toyota corolla always very popular, you can see many on the road even the altis now also plenty running on the road.

From last time made in japan corolla until the current made in thailand altis, still heard people recommended this car. Although the engine and technology that the car is using is still very old, but still recommended to buy. [:p]

Yup I change my shock adsorbers too, as 1 front shock and 1 back shock was leaking the fluid, good thing was my G9 was still under warranty so Borneo change all 4 for me :D, I also have to change my engine mounting due to my work place was an open air carpark, I guess due to hot weather, the rubber cushion become brittle and crack after 41/2 year. Apart from that there are no major repair needed.
