wait it seems that yr pc does not have system admin rights....so there is nothing wrong with the hd....

 

can u check yr nephews account and see what rights he has?

 

if thats the issue then just log in with administrator

 

 

 

But how to log in as system admin.....acct are normal subscription...

think if you can boot in safe mode, most likely is some drivers conflict with os. what software or driver u installed / update before this ? can also go to device manager and see if all hardware and drivers are ok, and work from there.

Hi as the above..my nephew comp. can only boot up in Safe mode and not

normal boot up. He does not have a recovery disc or anything like wise.

And when I try to system restore, this is the prompt window below.

I have this feeling the nephew's account is with admin rights.

Assuming that the system is compromised by a virus that disables the system restore and other stuffs, the integrity of the OS can no longer be trusted. So it's best to do a complete reformat and install.

Different grades of HDD, although they look the same on the outside.

 

Most domestic HDDs are not meant for heavy duty cycles.

 

Check that they are for server application, which is designed for 24/7 application.--- prepare to pay more.

 

Consider a back up HDD, they are cheap these days.

What kills harddisk most of the time is heat.

 

For my systems, instead of using those standard 12V fans at SLS, I used those AC fans commonly used in machines or server racks.

Almost the same price, but the fan is more powerful, but you must know how to mod the power supply to pull out the Live and Neutral cables and a switch.

At my office, there are a several industrial grade machines which are PC based.

 

These are mission critical machines.

 

So they are designed for 24 hr usage.

 

They have additional fans for cooling usually 5" 12V DC. Not the AC one.

 

But as with high air flow, dust will also increase.

 

So there is a washable air filter at the inlet side, to keep the machine less dusty.

Unless you run your PC 24/7 otherwise 120mm fans with good CFM performance will suffice.

every 2 months i get the air spray and open my casing. dust every small corner and also my heatsinks.

 

 

i have 1 intake fan 2k RPM, 1 output fan 2.5k RPM, and one stock case fan blowing my GPU. HDD is naturally cooled.

Give TLC for PC.

 

I only cut out and paste a 3M filtrate at the ventilations for my son's CPU to reduce dust.
