The problem might be limited to a few batches since the longest I had no signal under the sky was about 3 minutes when driving in a dense part of KL. Have you tried to get them to swop your GPS unit?

The technican advised no need to off the power everytime you off the engine. So far so good. Signal is quick to lock everytime I start engine. Hopes this help you also.

My servicing is coming up real soon... Will expect them to sort this problems out.
I'm just really disappointed atm... with the dealer.

Just collected the car this week.

1 nice thing is that when you are driving a chevrolet is the feeling of exclusivity. For e.g I have been driving for a few days and have never seen another burn coconut orlando on the road. Even see another orlando also difficult.

When i got home on the day of collection, I found a nail embedded in my rear tyre. Went back to alpine next day to get it fixed. But at the same time I had a chance to ask them to get the gps and whatever firmware updated.  So far the gps seem to lock nearly instantly.

i have used the same gps software in a standalone gps (holux) previously. In that kind of setup it was normal to need a few minutes for gps lock if you have not turned on the gps for >48 hours. If you use the 2nd time onwards on the same day it should lock nearly immediately.

Ehh... if your Orlando is rare, then what about my Malibu? hehe... I think there are less than 30 Malibu running ard SG till date :)

Anyway check your Galactio GPS, is TMC turned on? I was told by Galactio vendor Ivan that Malibu's Galactio GPS doesn't support TMC function even though the option is fully clickable on screen... [thumbsdown]  [furious]

TMC offers realtime traffic monitor and its tied to MapSYNQ.

Anyone changed or would like to change the stock dash unit to android base 3rd party one?

You think is a good idea?

In the first place I think our stock unit is already an "aftermarket solution" that is authorized by Chevrolet/Alpine.

If you go to the website of the vendor, they are already doing what you are asking for (android, gps, various multimedia integration into various HU)

So they should logically be the first place to find out more about how you can map the "chevrolet part" (aircon, radio controls, car config menu) into another android HU.

I dont mention the vendor here because I think before I bought the car I saved the previous forum thread which has the name of the company, but now I cant find back - dunno if was deleted. Pls pm me if you need the name and address.

Ivan is right.  He told me there is no TMC antenna in it.  The only possible solution for our GPS to use TMC is to get a WinCE data modem with subscription so that it can download the TMC messages.

You mean Innovasia Technology Pte Ltd?   Their website is here http://www.innovasiatech.com.

What's the price now? Any good Lobang :)

I heard someone recently got his Orlando at a couple of Ks short of $110K.

Sigh..... :(

In theory Galactio maps will be really good for it uses SLA maps, even Google Maps may pale in comparision. And it offers native TMC support from mapSYNQ.... that's the system used by SG Traffic Watch.

But TMD, why TMC needs another antenna and a...what... modem? Can't be a 56k dialup right? LOL Any idea how and where we can get this modem? Thinking of DIY into the system.

I suggest you call or message Ivan from Innovasia.  PM me if you need to know his number.   He knows better how this can be done.

Neutral Newbie

What is most important is to remember the following:

Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 - Top Speed 300 km/h (muscle car with sturdy body - very heavy, safe and can seat 5)

Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 - Top Speed 330 km/h (lighter body, can only seat 2)

Both are very safe because of having Magnetic Ride Control, Electric Stability Control, etc.

Hi man, I found this post:  http://gmotorscars.com/2018-chevrolet-camaro-zl1-review-specs-price/

According to this, new ZL1 brings 6.2 l & V8 and 670HP? Does it enough for this speed?

Hi guys,

Will fixing a Transmission Cooler void the car warranty?

Thanks

Of cos it will

But seriously if you're driving the 1.4T Orlando, there should be a factory installed transmission cooler already.

Look out for a small radiator mounted in front of the main radiator. You shd be able to see it peeking in from the grill.

I DIY my auto headlight controller ordered from Aliexpress.com.

It is quite easy as you just need to plug it directly into the socket behind the original headlight switch, plug the 2 power clips into spare sockets at the fuse box behind the glove compartment, paste the light sensor on the windscreen and then conceal the cables behind the A-pillars.

The only modification I did was to add extra wires to lengthen the power cables as this headlight controller is made for LHD cars where the headlight switch and fuse box are on the left side but for RHD cars like ours, the headlight switch is on the opposite side.
