Mini Cooper queries

This is likely to be Mini Habitat demo car.

Seem like it is registered one owner with a COE pegged at $75k.

Question is they don't really think someone will buy it do they?

did you go for the F56 in the end?

Start-stop is the manufacturer way to cheat on emissions in a legal way. Most people will just switch it off anyway if they can.

Can the start-stop be permanently switched off or must switch off each time the engine is started?

You can set the gear knob to manual/auto which disables the auto start/stop function.

I understand that all new MCS arriving from Mar will be specced with the paddle shift and it adds $1k to the base price :(

I tried the paddle shift and for my driving, I don't require it. So that's $1k wasted.

oh that is good news for me...Cos I was doing some reading up and video reviews of the JCW, seem like all of them say or hinted that the JCW may not be the most liveable for daily usage. So If can get the MCS with paddle shift, I can save almost 30k off.

So, you signed up for MCS already?

Was originally looking at MCD. The acceleration was good enough for me. MCS was more attractive then when the COE was $38k and the price difference between the MCD was "just" $15k.

Finding more info online is quite a struggle and it didn't help that even the brochures at EuroKars did not match the latest offering. For e.g. the MCS is equipped with 6 speakers instead of 4.

For $1k more, the paddle shift comes with a different steering wheel - white stitching, a black union jack logo and material seems different.

From what I gather: HK 11-speaker system is a $3500 option that requires custom order. The day lamps do not have an internal switch (US and UK has them).

Under manual shift mode, it is likely that car will downshift aggressively.  Paddle shift is left with upshift only.

Go & try out JCW.  JCW definitely will have stiffer suspension.

Mini has so many option.  It depends on how MH configure each batch.

There are so many other accessories from Mini and 3rd party.  That's the beauty of Mini.

For options and accessories, where do you normally go to? Amazon? Aliexpress?

Turbocharged

Mini's prices seems to be very sensitive to COE fluctuations.

MCD was the attractive option back ard motorshow period, then the sudden drop of cat B prompted an equivalent drop in MC and MCS and they became more attractive than the MCD since the difference is less now and MC is even cheaper than MCD.

Now with the rebound of cat B, there should be price revisions again this weekend to increase the gap between MCD, MC and MCS.

I change interior lighting to white LED. Can get from Mini.

I also puddle light to LED from gobadge. Gobadge also got other interesting stuff.

I have windscreen sunshade(those that cover entire windscreen) which I hardly use. It fit Mini windscreens nicely other than IU. If interested, PM me.

When I go down to test drive, probably try to get a habitat specced equipment list for the MCS.

I don't mind many options, but they should have a decent standard for sale model for enthusiast to add on if they want. Not like give a base stripped down model and by the time you specced it up, it adds another 20% to the price.... [sweatdrop]

you mean when in manual shift mode, when the rev hits the rev limiter, the tranny will auto upshift?

I was told by MH that it will upshift and downshift automatically - upshift if you hit the rev limiter.

I had nvr hit rev limiter for upshift.

When i lift throttle, it will downshift automatically despite in Manual mode.

Thanks!

Forget to tell you that if you are looking for a mobile phone mount for Mini, look for cravenspeed.

The mount sits on top of speedometer.

don't really understand what you are trying to describe. It's been some years since my R52 days. Cannot really remember how the paddle shifts behave.

I guess I just have to pay attention to that when I go down to test drive it these couple of days.

Oh and they don't bring in MC SD do they?

Does it block access to IU? It looks cool and wasted they dont seem to have the right hand drive version.

You found a gem then.

I just looked through the mini habitat used cars on offer:

MCS (Thunder Grey) Jul 2015 mileage 2,100km asking $152,800

Brand new list price for MCS is $146,300

Kind of brainless decision in this case.

Selling at 152K can leave a lot of room for over trade and also qualify for higher loan...
