Selling at 152K can leave a lot of room for over trade and also qualify for higher loan...

Good tip there! Will keep my options open...:)

Was originally looking at MCD. The acceleration was good enough for me. MCS was more attractive then when the COE was $38k and the price difference between the MCD was "just" $15k.

Finding more info online is quite a struggle and it didn't help that even the brochures at EuroKars did not match the latest offering. For e.g. the MCS is equipped with 6 speakers instead of 4.

For $1k more, the paddle shift comes with a different steering wheel - white stitching, a black union jack logo and material seems different.

From what I gather: HK 11-speaker system is a $3500 option that requires custom order. The day lamps do not have an internal switch (US and UK has them).

let's assume I go for the used mini from habitat, can the 2015 MCS be retrofitted with paddleshift? Do you have any idea on the cost?

Went down to habitat. Saw the mcs, mcs 5dr and clubman. Clubman inside is another level up in luxury tech.

Test drove the mcs 5dr and finish with 3dr, 3dr is definitely the unadulterated mini feel to go for.

5dr can feel the heft and the extra length at the back.

The paddle shift cannot be retrofitted once out of the factory.

The Habitat pricing very stiff. No overtrades etc. Let's see if they low ball me the trade in quote.

as in 10K below price posted on sgcarmart?

10K below what other AD quoted for trade in.

I have learned not to use SGcarmart for dealer take in price for the last few years. Gone are the days when you can just minus a few K from the sgcarmart price to have an indication of the dealer buy price.

Business model is different bro.

Some AD quote ultra high list price, then give $20k overtrade + $8k discount + service credit + $10k more for trade in price.

Some AD quote barebone list price (cost plus small markup), and give $2-4k discount + no service credit + market trade in price.

Both earn about the same profit margin.

Which AD will you buy from?

problem is...Mini AD:

quote ultra high list price, then SAY NO overtrade + NO discount + NO service credit + $10k LESS for trade in price.

Essentially saying to me: "Mini has no direct competitor lifestyle car in Singapore, you take it of leave it"

mini has a cult following. just as alfa.

BMW 1 series design language, handling and suspension setup is totally different animal.

Actually I prefer a german/japan made mini if there are any...hahaha. British factory may not be the epitome of manufacturing excellence.

Mini is a lifestyle car. So commands a lifestyle premium. I get it. Just don't low ball my trade in, don't feel good.

I just have to finish more of my balance COE and see if the prices soften 1-2 years down the road to make the opportunistic switch. So now just focus on changing my wife's car to a more versatile utilitarian vehicle in anticipation of my switch to a lifestyle car later.

im the opposite. wife prefers small lifestyle car while i need an executive car.

Germans are too big for supermini lifestyle cars. the closest to it will be the Smart ForTwo/ForFour ... otherwise, the BMW i3 is pretty cool too... with range extender, the car probably runs about 2.5-3L/100km.

Japs ... there is the Subaru R1/R2.  If only they build a Mazda 1
