Is it necessary?

 

I mean you can use a solar battery tender to keep your starter battery maintain charge.

I'm currently using this. But I'm not running my cameras when my car is parked.

It's rated at 12V output 5watt, but cannot expect zhun zhun getting 5w. Must lower your expectations.

 

During work my car is parked in the open with no shelter I thought I get one to maintain charge while I'm not using the car. If you want to use the cig plug you got to plug it into a live socket meaning even when you off the car's ignition the socket can provide power. For my car I have a live socket at the back. So I just place the solar panel against my rear windscreen using the suction cups. There's a diode light on the cig plug to indicate power got power coming from the solar panel. Even on an overcast sky it can still generate power, the diode light will be dimmer. Over light window tinting also can work in my case.

 

This is my second one actually. The first I bought it's another brand, plastic casing, very pretty but suction cups failed and it fell to the ground and broke the glass when I open my tailgate. This one above is canvas backing, even lighter dan the first, less likely to break when dropped.

 

Can feel that my car is running on a fully charge battery cos the butt feel is responsive. Reason being alternator is not working that hard to charge the battery. It's freed up to power the aircon and other stuff.
 

Note: 1) It doesn't charge when you run your engine. 2) No, it doesn't charge at night.(Got ppl ask me this awesome question).

What car you driving anyway?

Changing to Sienta soon. Lately my area got one serial scratcher. Looking for lobang for secondary batt.

You need very large battery to last 5 days. Then you need to think of the recharging process, which would take quite some time too. So you need to consider a third set of batteries to stand in while second set is being charged.

No harm seeking advise for a set up to last as long as possible. Any guru to introduce or recommend?

Do you unplug when you drive? Cause when the alternator is running. It’s 14v

Have anyone bro install car second battery in their ride?

 

Example the stock battery is in the engine bay and they install another car battery in the boot ...

 

Cause I feels that my car is under powered ... so was thinking of installing car second battery in the boot. But will it affects or damage the devices in the car?

it will cost lots of money cable re routing if u have car battery in front etcs ets...

better get a bigger and quality battery for a primary one and done install 2nd one ;]

i also looking at a secondary battery to power my in car cam. and mine being a weekend car, need a secondary battery to last at least 5 days.

 

Any OPC/ROPC brudders here got similar set up?

or any good secondary battery installer to recommend so can go down to enquire more?

If you removed the spare tire from the boot, you can put up to 8x spare batteries in it.
