Hi all,

Regarding accident, on saturday night travelling along woodlands road towards bukit panjang at the west view pri sch. There was road works ongoing along the middle of the road seperating the traffic directions. As i was driving past , one of the temporary road curbs dislodge and landed onto my lane as i was driving past.( most likely due to a heavy trailer speeding past on the opposite side not sure if it hit it or the weight of the trailer dislodged it) My car suffered damage to my front right bumper.

The project is under LTA and i called to seek their advice if i can seek compensation from them regarding the repairs but they have not called me back.Plus my insurance say that my NCD and premium will be affected if i claim even if it wasnt my fault?!

Any kind souls have such experience or advise to give me?

I would advice you to write in an email to your car insurance explain the whole situation and await for their reply.

Hmm..i already spoke to them over the phone and explain. But my agent says that NCD and premium will still be affected if i claim. Plus my excess quite high as the insurance is not under my name. However if the fault is proven to be caused by the road works shouldnt it tt my NCD and premium wont be affected?

Dear all,

Newbie here advise needed.

Say I kissed someone's backside, minor scratch and misalignment. No report to insurance co/ police for record purposes. The other party agreed to repair at my workshop, all repairs done. He happy say settled, signed indemnity form.

1 week later, he go report and wanna make a claim. Will I be penalised for not reporting for record purposes and my insurance makes a payout?

What can I do to prevent the above mentioned scenario?

Thanks in advance

I though you wrote sign indemnity form already?? With that form you should be released of all further claims already.

2 results are possible:

a) If you claim against the other party and not against your policy for the repair, then the NCD will not be affected or

b) If you claim against your policy for the repair and get your insurance company to claim against the other party AND if the claim made on your behalf is successful, then your NCD may not be affected however,

c) if the other party disputes your claim and if your insurer don't put enough effort to help exonerate the policy holder and/or the authorised driver from such dispute, the it may affect the NCD.

Perhaps, the policy holder should ask his/her insurer if they will take up your case against the other party for the damage you deem is liable by that party i.e. LTA or the project contractor etc.. although it may seem a long shot since the damage is not caused by a collision between 2 vehicles.

Good luck! [wave]

Well tts wad im trying to do. But i want to speak to the LTA side to gather some feedback or info for such cases first b4 i make any conclusion. The biggest problem is...

I have been waiting since saturday for them to reply. first they say monday will call me cus weekend no one work. Monday afternoon i call again, they say officer who tasked to handle my case not contactable so wait for him to call . I asked for them to put an urgent beside this case. Tuesday no news.. never mind, Today wednesday i call again. They say YESTERDAY they just pass my case to downtown line project side as the road works is under their provision. I say can i just contact the guy in charge. Ask me to be on hold....after 1 min, she say...sorry the officer out for lunch u just wait for him to call u back. i asked how long..she say cant confirm...-_-

I think it depends on the contents of the private settlement form that you signed with the other party. For e.g. private settlement forms provided by some insurance companies like NTUC and Directasia require insured party to provide a copy of the completed private settlement form to them. However, I have seen other private settlement form that forbids both parties from reporting the matter to the insurance companies.
