A dispute between two teenage girls, who called each other derogatory names over SMS, escalated into a fight that ended with the stabbing of a full-time national serviceman (NSF).

 

Deputy Public Prosecutor Winston Man said that the incident, which happened in May, involved two girls, aged 13 and 16. They had agreed to meet at Pioneer Mall in Jurong West Street 61 to settle the dispute.

 

Both brought friends along.

 

The 16-year- old girl roped in Ng Chee Wei, 22, who got worried after seeing that the other side had 10 people.

Something wrong with our education system. Emphasis too much on academic achievement and totally neglected on character building. So, for those academically not strong and without much help from home, they will become delinquent in double quick time. There is nothing much to look forward to in school for this group of students. They do not understand what the teachers are teaching most of the time. Given the heavy work load of teachers nowadays, there isn't much the teachers can do to help them. They suffer from low self esteem and self worth and self confident. If you have an opportunity to have heart to heart talk with this group of students, you will realise they are really very pitiful.

 

To overcome the 3 lows, some turn to violent or unlawful activities. Sad
