I am now too reliant on GPS. [laugh]

Last time no GPS/when GPS cost a bomb, study and memorise maps like 10-year series before setting off. Still can manage to find the place.

Now with GPS, sometimes will get lost due to GPS hollanding me. [bigcry]

Yes in malaysia i always use gps cos not familiar or jialat if miss the exit

In sg its better to learn by doing, moreover road marking is clear and signage also enough unlike in malaysia

In MY, there was once the GPS wants to lead me off road !

In SGP there's little need to even use GPS!! it's our own tiny island, won't it be better to take a quick look at the map before driving to the place you are new to? This way we get to know our homeland better.

The bloody GPS just leads us there and makes us lazy to learn about our lovely island. Not very good to always rely on a 'walking stick' mah, no?

Eh... with GPS guidance, I can look around more without worrying that I will miss a turn.

How long does it take for us to flip a few pages to find the way from the street directory? It doesnt really take longer than having to key in the name of the location you are going into the GPS... even if it takes a minute more (which is unlikely), the advantage of going thru the map to check it out and 'storing' it in our memories (which GPS is incapable of doing) helps us to be really familiar with the directions.

Somehow I find reading the map and then followed by driving thru the streets shown in the map helps me remember directions much better than just following the sweet voice telling me " turn left, turn right, ...." and finally ..."you have arrived at your destination". [grin]

Usually I will use google maps to sort of "store" the directions in my brain (like counting how many junctions I will cross first before I need to take a turn etc etc) first before I head for unfamiliar territory.

I will still turn on the GPS but mute it, so that in case I made any mistakes whatsoever I can quickly glance at the map and correct my route lol.

Yes, I will either count the number of road junctions, or remember the street names one junction before the actual one, or landmarks shown on the map. S
