Ihave3Ballz 2nd Gear June 13, 2016 Share June 13, 2016 Dig up old thread. WTF is wrong with some of these CCB drivers? I everyday encounter these drivers, but this evening's one takes the cake. Merging lane markers already gone and lane is one single lane and very small lane and then this CB driver decided to overtake and drive next to me. Honk few times but he still stubborn want to squeeze. Almost caused an accident as there was little or no room for me to maneuver out. He only let up later when he realised he was going to cause an accident and would be 100% at fault. Normally, I am usually forced to do some defensive driving when it comes to merging lanes. Just today forget and was not in a defensive mood. Once my car is on the very first merging lane marker and if there is no car next to me, I will plonk myself smack in the middle. Anyway legally allowed to do so. Some of you might think this is stingy or whatever, but I don't care, all these CCB drivers overtake during merging lanes force me to drive this way. Axela72 5th Gear June 13, 2016 Share June 13, 2016 why cant such driver follow the rule 1st come 1st serve? I wonder what if others behind them do similar as them like want to cut in front of them? Will such driver give way to others too? If no, why they expect others should give way to them instead? Dig up old thread. WTF is wrong with some of these CCB drivers? SimonSeah 2nd Gear June 13, 2016 Share June 13, 2016 i encountered once when i am already ahead in the merging lane, and the car which was 45% degree beside me horned me. WTF? http://www.mycarforum.com/public/style_emoticons/#EMO_DIR#/dry.gif He expect me to slow down and wait for him speed up and overtake me? Drive type r big Fxxx? LOL Encountered this before too. But mine is entering into expressway. Both my car and the one behind are filtering out, and I got horned by the way behind.A lot of irresponsible and reckless drivers on the road. And ppl just don't allow u to cut lane even when u signal. When u try to cut, u get horned. When u don't cut, u get horned by the one behind u. Dig up old thread. I will move into middle of merging lanes.I don't think it's selfish. It is just playing safe. I don't want to have an accident when some idiots just squeeze in besides me from behind with floored acceleration.
Optramagnum 6th Gear June 13, 2016 Share June 13, 2016 (edited) I also hate merging lane.. Wil avoid it when possible.. But the trick is to be decisive and know your car limits.. Merge into the lane swiftly but safely, if ppl still die die wanna cut in and you know he/she is very close to your car's side "limit" distance, let them go. Staying behind one car most least 5 secs? Or u wanna spend hours at car workshop? Edited June 13, 2016 by Optramagnum

Gizmore Supercharged June 14, 2016 Share June 14, 2016 The trick that I have come to learn about merging lane is to merge as soon as possible. Once I hit the first merge arrow, I will signal, merge in to the middle even if it means driving along the dotted center divider for a small distance. Back then when I was a novice driver, I tend to merge when late and realize there will be drivers who are so damn cork who will merge together with me. I feel that merging late means there is very little room for error, both cars are will be at the 'bottleneck' of the merge and it gives no room for either car to maneuver out of the situation. There are times when I get horned cause some drivers chiong all the way from behind only to be blocked off. I cannot say I'm absolutely right, but at least I don't have to get myself stuck in a tight spot during merge. One of my most hated merging stretch of road is PIE entering CTE/SLE. I have seen cars driving side by side along with big trucks when the lane has been merged, cars who die die must drive side by side on the merged stretch. Really hate to drive along this stretch and I will always try to avoid this stretch during peak hours or totally avoid it if I can.

Axela72 5th Gear June 14, 2016 Share June 14, 2016 how to be fast when there is another car in front? the one behind expect us to closely tailgate the one in front of us? Does that meant when ppls queuing for boarding a bus, if the one in front does not move fast enough and not an inch behind his front, the one at the back has the right to overtake him? IMO, if the guy can get infront then I let him go lo. I am not going to tailgate just to make sure that people merge correctly. I will merge early, like what many here have mentioned but at the same time just watch out for those who try to squeeze past and let them go. No point getting into an accident cuz merging lane almost always end up 50-50 even with video cuz both cars could have given way to prevent accident. Insurance company won't care about the one in one out like the zip or who came first.
Count-Bracula Twincharged June 14, 2016 Share June 14, 2016 Have to be decisive and chop chop. I signal tick tock tick tock and I move in to the middle, dont overtake front and dont let car behind overtake. Ever kena one tattooed lau ah beng van driver who insisted on trying to overtake me even though I was one car length in front. He squeezed through and I moved up cutting him off until he almost scrap the side barricade. He horned and I shook my fist at him.
Jamesc Hypersonic June 14, 2016 Share June 14, 2016 I am sick of hearing how people are so polite and keep getting overtaken by the agressive driver who cut them up from the back. I always like to hear from both sides so can the drivers that overtake from the back and cut into the slow driver please give us your take on this situation. I am also sick of hearing here all the people that give way when someone signals and wants to cut in. For a change can we have the drivers that accelerate and cut off anyone they see signalling. I only hear all the polite drivers here and never see them on the road. It makes sense they are all too busy posting here and never drive on the roads.
Axela72 5th Gear June 14, 2016 Share June 14, 2016 that is the reason why these road bullies become more and more daring and taken it for granted because ppls like us scare of getting into trouble and give way. The worst I come across is after give way, that car become hogging in front of me instead. I was wonder if the driver want to be a slow poke, why would he bother to over take me in the 1st place. Just let them go ahead lo. But I also know alot of drivers whose ego very big and don't want to let these aggressive drivers overtake them if they feel they are supposed to be infront. Let these groups of drivers fight. So long I get to my destination, I don't care.

Nothing wrong with keeping in the middle once you have the chance. I do that too and so are a few of us here. The main thing is every car make quick decisions and move off merging lane asap. We don't want any time wasted or accidents happen. That's why I don't like cars who take their own sweet time merging coz merging lane always cause traffic to slow down. Do it quick and the traffic flow smoothly. ↡ Advertisement
