Snl2601 Clutched January 29, 2012 Share January 29, 2012 (edited) Dear All, Currently driving a 2007 Rex, thinking of changing to a 2nd hand C-Class as my wife will be picking up her license soon. My budget is around 80k +- and i zoom down to the year 2007 C-class. Check that there are a few models in my range, but i can't really find much information discerning them apart. Hope the expert here can give me some enlightenment on the various model. C180K Coupe C180ML C200ML (abit of a stretch for me) For the 3 models, which is the better variant based on engine and specs and leaving the shapes aside. I am able to accept both the coupe and normal sedan chasis. Do the K in the C180k coupe mean anything compare to the ML for the C180 ML? Thanks a lot for the kind help May consider 320 also but generally seems to align more with Merc. Sell the rex, go for the c class. Don deny the fact that power will drop but, like u had mentioned ur wife will be driving too? So why on earth does she needs such high bhp car. And the comfort of a merc as compare to rex is different(No offence). Lastly the pai tao is different also. Friendstar Supercharged January 29, 2012 Share January 29, 2012 My previous ride was a E90 320i and currently driving the W204 C180K..... I am labelled a "badge whore" as both models are entry level in their respective model. But do I care about the label .... I am not all all bothered. It is still a Merc and a BMW. My comments after owning both cars : These are my personal opinions : 320i - Handling is still one of the best around ... 50/50 weight distribution. Car is built for the driver .... Some will comment that there us a lack of power but I was OK with 156 BHP ... 0 to 100 km/h in less than 10 secs. C180K - The overall experience is "nicer", little things like rear seats reading lights, safety lights etc etc. I believe weight distribution is 52/48 and HP also at 156 BHP. I still missed the drive of the 320i but everything else ... the C180K has the advantage. For someone driving a REX .... the change to a 320i is a better fit. Go test drive both models and based on your budget, make a decision. But be prepared to put aside a tidy sum for repair and replacement for parts for cars after 5 years old. don't bother about those who say badge whore or wanna be lah. life is full of such nonsense politics. Vhtfhwlego Supercharged February 9, 2012 Share February 9, 2012 talk big you sure can Didnt wanna reply not because I dont have the ability.... My F&B on any month is min 1.8K. I have the freedom to go to work OTOT (I am not sales related so dont say OTOT = sales)... If that one day I can forgo the atas dining, i would have no problems to save at least 12K per annual on my F&B. 12K + 20K (which my current car cost me per year) = 32K = shouldnt have any problems to own a IL6 beamer right? And if that I want to save 12K, I still got $26.66 per day to spend on my F&B (I dont take breakfast). Not forgeting my other expenses such as insurance, child savings, own savings, house, blar blar blar.... So how much I can afford or willing to pay for a car is not about talking big or small... I just need 1 car pt A to pt B... Oh, I love to change car every now & then (MCF have my track record how many cars I changed when i join this forum). I can talk big, can you?
