Dear bros,

thanks for all the advice.

I prefer the styling of W204 but the price increase over a similar period w203 is quite steep.

C180 ML vs C180K around 20k difference.

Got to reevaluate my choice... [:(]

nonetheless thanks for all the advice, learn a lot more about the merc family

It's much slower as compared to a rex. You already use to a certain level of speed. Hard to go back to a 'slower' car.

Alfa is not about the BHP but the drive.

You would have to own one then you know what is the "drive".

For 320i i think is within my budget also but i read there are some 320i which are uprated and some which are lower in HP. Anyway to tell them apart?

Stick with your first choice, stay with your second...

A beamer without a big engine is not a beamer but a badge whore.

My previous ride was a E90 320i and currently driving the W204 C180K..... I am labelled a "badge whore" as both models are entry level in their respective model. But do I care about the label .... I am not all all bothered. It is still a Merc and a BMW. My comments after owning both cars :

These are my personal opinions :

320i - Handling is still one of the best around ... 50/50 weight distribution. Car is built for the driver .... Some will comment that there us a lack of power but I was OK with 156 BHP ... 0 to 100 km/h in less than 10 secs.

C180K - The overall experience is "nicer", little things like rear seats reading lights, safety lights etc etc. I believe weight distribution is 52/48 and HP also at 156 BHP.

I still missed the drive of the 320i but everything else ... the C180K has the advantage. For someone driving a REX .... the change to a 320i is a better fit. Go test drive both models and based on your budget, make a decision. But be prepared to put aside a tidy sum for repair and replacement for parts for cars after 5 years old.

My Gf used to have a C200 with AMG kit.

Really like that car, especially when travelling up north. Not too big, not to flashy. Small and agile.

Can cruise 170-180km/hr all day long and you dont feel like the fatigue as it is very quiet and smooth. :)

Dear all,

thanks for all the help and advice. After thinking hard, i think i will continue driving my rex. I do not think my current budget is sufficient to move into the luxury car segment and do not feel like overextending.

Going to spend some money to upgrade my rex suspension and a new coat of paint =p (do let me know if you got recommendation on coils over for wrx)

Thanks once again to all the help, look forward to a day where i can move to the luxury category without too much change in lifestyle. cheers and glad to have made some new frens on the forum over the past few days.

May all the bro have a huat huat new year ahead!

If u drive TC car now, dun even tink abt going NA. The 320i wun satisfy and you'll be bored wif the badge very quickly.

CX7? Not too familiar wif it but our MCF hantu swears by it.

Dear All,

Currently driving a 2007 Rex, thinking of changing to a 2nd hand C-Class as my wife will be picking up her license soon.

I hope you will consider carefully.

YOu will feel quite irritated due to the drastic drop in Butt feel in relation to the power.

My opinion is based on my past experience. From Rex to C200.

But first thing first.... you may wanna confirm your sale of your Rex.

It's a tedious process... loses a lot of $$$ due selling off Rex unless you just wanna let it go regardless of the low trade in price.

And yes... Low Trade In for WRX.

I enjoyed my OPC JDM WRX for 1.5 years... Dealer took it in at Half Price.

You MAY/ MAY NOT need to pay more for your insurance since your Wife just passed her license.

You cannot based on yourself as named driver.

If you allow her to drive, she'll classified as new driver and you should see an increase in premium although Rex insurance is already not friendly.

In any case... I wish you all the best in getting your ideal ride.

All the Best, Sir.

Dear all,

I do not think that your choice is considered as Luxury Car.

Cos there are many Luxury Cars out there ... Even Korean produces very Nice, Delicious looking Luxury Cars recently.

Your definition is more of 'Conti' or 'Need to Feel Atas' Car.

Pardon me ya... I am a very straight forward person.

For CX7 .... you should be fine cos FC is in the same region as our WRX.

But In My Humble Opinion, not very willing to pay for 2nd hand Mazda CX7 cos the Depre is surprisingly high. (I repeat, my opinion doesn't represent all).

But I enjoyed the Driving Feel of CX7 ... Thumbs Up.

Again.... if you wanna add your Wife's name inside should you change to CX7 .. you will suffer more.

Go try to get a quote and you know what I meant. Pretty shocking.
