Help needed for primary math Q!!!

In reality, they do allow algebra for solving of math problems in psle. But I reckoned most primary school teachers are not too good in math themselves, so feel threatened when children can solve problems in a more efficient way than them, so must put kids down and say method not allowed. I have 2 kids, and the older one used only algebra for his psle exams, gotten a*. The principal assured me that all methods allowed as long as it solves the problem mathematically. So go ahead and teach your kids algebra if it makes it easier.
