Taxi again...

I didn't anticipate his move, as he was slowing down and for a moment was stationary in his right turn only lane . Only when I about to cross the stop line, he decides to step on the gas and go on straight against a red light that was on for a long time.

 

My fault for not slowing down to prepare for his abnormal manoeuvre.

If TS always meet such drivers, TS is likely the cause of the problem: confusing others. TS can attend some refresher driving lessons.

Taxi driver cross the traffic light on his right turn lights come out, he should turn otherwise he is beating the red light then......

 

Regardless Taxi driver made a mistake or not, he should just keep going and make a U-turn on the next opportunity.

It puzzles me when TS becomes at fault in this situation. Please enlighten.............

 

Just stating what the law is. The reason that technically two laws are being broken if there was an accident. In this scenario turning vehicles must give way to straight going vehicles regardless of light colour, so that law would have been broken. The other law broken was for beating the light, which is why if there was an accident, some allocation of blame would have also gone to the taxi driver.

it looks like both vehicles were beating the red light, just that one was turning, the other went straight.

TS wanted to turn right without signalling with offside trafficator . The taxi driver was frightened by TS, to change to straight instead, due to TS not signalling with offside trafficator . The taxi driver was pracrtising defensive driving to avoid being rammed by TS on the nearside of taxi .

Mixed feelings towards them lah - they are suffering in terms of rising costs and long working hours but these conditions turn some of them into dangerous, devil-may-care drivers.
