Fennmax Clutched March 27, 2012 Share March 27, 2012 I was reading wheels magazine in Woolworths in Brisbane earlier. This article stated that when someone flashes the headlights to indicate for one to filter or join the lane, it can be perceived as agression by the aussies. Then, one time the writer drovein a countryside road in a fiesta and behind came a saad turbo, he kept left andthe saad zoomed past and gave two hazard lights flashes to indicate thank you. That made his day so much more pleasant. I was thinking, we need to brush up or initiate communication between cars to destress from driving on the road. Too manytimes proper gentlemen when they get into their cars, they become a-----es.waving in the car is quite distracting when our eyes should be on the road, besides, the rear tinted window obscure the view. Any thoughts? ↡ Advertisement

Antlau 1st Gear March 27, 2012 Share March 27, 2012 (edited) install LED boards, like the ones on top of taxis, but can display running messages...hehehe just put up your hand, with 5 fingers hor, similar to show that you are sorry for cutting into lane abruptly, to show the appreciation for "thank you"... Deckbuild 6th Gear March 27, 2012 Share March 27, 2012 I gave way most of the time but most of the time when I flash, they don't dare to come in. So I have come to a point that I give way by slowing down, if he don't take the hint or he is slow in reaction, I will proceed to retrieve the way that was given and move on. Too much cars in SG, unlike other countries, even when stand still at traffic lights, you give way to ppl from the side because they couldn't get into your lane initially also make drivers at the back angry. Not much you can do.

Ad23 Neutral Newbie March 27, 2012 Share March 27, 2012 If road conditions permit, I will wind down my window, stick out my hand and say thanks by holding out my 5 fingers, otherwise I will hold out my hand and place it behind my rear view mirror. Any thoughts? there is no universal car language, what you are trying to put across may not be understood by the other party.. as illustrated in your one beam of lights example. best is to use signal lights, and the usual friendly wave of thanks. ↡ Advertisement
