Blue850r Clutched May 2, 2012 Share May 2, 2012 Hi All, I am asking this for a friend who owns a 2007 Audi A4 Cabrio 1.8. The cabrio top motor was change a year ago and now PA says motor pump is not working well and the top can only open half way and cannot fully open. I don't quite believe that the motor or pump is not working well simply because if the motor is spoilt, the cabrio top shouldn't even start to move. Secondly, when the cabrio top is fully closed, upon starting the car or ignition ON, the Cabrio top malfunction light blinks on the dashboard. The windows which are suppose to open a little whenever the door is open, did not work either. So I suspect the problem is related to some kind of reset issue. Any workshop that is honest and reasonable charges to recommend? Thank you Bros ↡ Advertisement

Chickenbackside 1st Gear May 2, 2012 Share May 2, 2012 If you can hear the motor is louder than normal and the movement is very sluggish, it sounds like some kind of hydraulic fluid leak. Sometimes, it will move and then get stuck halfway. It can be a faulty motor or leaking fluid lines.
Mamamia Clutched May 2, 2012 Share May 2, 2012 Best bet is to use the vagcom. It is very specific in pin pointing problems other than 2nd guessing.

Angchug 3rd Gear July 14, 2012 Share July 14, 2012 Is properly the same as MB. They set the alarm as reminder at 10k or 6 months from the last service. Nothing serious.
Liping24cn Clutched July 14, 2012 Share July 14, 2012 Funny how the AD worship can't even settle such issues since they are the authorized dealers with the right spare parts and wel trained mechanics. Sometimes it can be frustrated to own such cars, when the local AD are useless.

Sometimes it can be frustrated to own such cars, when the local AD are useless. It's some of the car owners who dunno how to describe the symptoms or what is wrong with the car. Just like going to the doctors, patients who can't tell the doctor their symptoms does not mean the doctor is incompetent. Mechanics do not drive their customers' cars on a regular basis so they won't know what are the problems. Most of them ride 'J' plate motorbikes. LOL... Problems not picked up by dianostics usually will take some time to troubleshoot. ↡ Advertisement
