  1. Eh guys. Stuck at yishun Central carpark. Is this a starter problem? Not a battery problem right?
  2. Guests, band members and staff at the Tan Hill Inn in northern England have been passing the time by playing board games and eating roast dinners, but they've just run out of sausages. Source: https://www.vice.com/en/article/7kbbxx/tan-hill-inn-snowed-in-with-oasis-tribute-band-noasis?ref=thefuturist Dozens of people may be looking back in anger at their decision to visit Britain’s highest pub after a dramatic winter storm and freezing temperatures prevented them from leaving for three nights and counting. Guests had originally turned up at the remote Tan Hill Inn in the Yorkshire Dales, northern England, on Friday to enjoy an evening of music by Oasis tribute band NOASIS, but little by little heavy snowfall and fallen power cables meant the 60 or so patrons, band members and staff became trapped. https://www.facebook.com/watch/NorthYorkshireWeatherUpdates/ Around 50 guests were forced to stay for a third night on Sunday, according to pub manager Nicola Townsend who spoke to UK broadcaster Sky News. One person was removed by mountain rescue due to a medical condition, and some others managed to leave on Saturday night in a 4x4 vehicle or SUV. The snow is 9 feet deep in certain areas, and visitors have been advised not to drive even in a 4x4, said Townsend. "We're all sleeping down here again tonight. Nobody else is going anywhere now," Townsend told Sky News on Sunday. "We're just going to make sure everybody is safe.” Photos from the pub show guests doing a pub quiz, eating roasts, singing karaoke, sleeping on the floor of the pub with blankets, and dancing to NOASIS, who have now been unofficially renamed Snow-asis. As the UK faces freezing temperatures and the bad weather brought by Storm Arwen has resulted in at least three deaths, Townsend said that guests were in good spirits despite the inadvertent imprisonment. They’ve got plenty of supplies, but have run out of sausages at breakfast, she said. "Our guests have been absolutely amazing – couldn't have asked for better,” she said. “They've been really patient and really understanding, so on behalf of the staff here, it's a big thank you from us all for being incredible." Townsend told the BBC’s Today programme that on the agenda for Monday was a best-dressed snowman competition – if it wasn’t too cold outside.
  3. Have you encountered trouble at carpark entries and realised that you needed to have another go with the IU scanner but the car behind is so close that you cant even reverse a tiny bit? We sure have and know how troublesome it is get the car behind to reverse so that you can re do the IU scan. Often, the driver behind refuses to bulge leaving you in an awkward position and frustrated at the driver behind you. Something like this happened on 22nd of October 2020 at Crawford Court between a Prius Trans-Cab and an unknown camera car. However, egos and tempers got the best of them and things turned out ugly. Who was in the wrong? Watch the video as posted by SG Road Vigilante and let us know in the comments below!

  5. Hi guys, have got a theoretical scenario which i've recently heard of someone being in - it's not anyone i know, so purely academic purposes, and seeing if anyone has any ideas. So car owner currently has a vehicle, with a 50k car loan left. Take for example he's paying 1K a month. He feels that he can't afford to pay this monthly installment now, and wants to reduce the amount he pays monthly. Repricing is out of the question, as the market is homogeneous. He inquires as to the price he can sell the car at. Unfortunately, it fetches a bid of say ... 25K. He doesn't have sufficient cash to cover the additional 25K, even after selling the car. However he doesn't mind paying off the 25K in (lower) monthly instalments. What are the options open to him in this case? I know that taking a personal loan - assuming his income can support - is one option.
  6. Hi guys I just got a used 2007 307Cc. Just after collecting car and when parking at my place, the gear stuck at N after I reverse car. After that no matter what I do I can never get the gear back to other gears as it's just stuck there. Anyone has this problem ? Is this a serious issue ? Vicom checks seems ok with no issues on gearbox and Transmisson. Dealer is taking car back to workshop to check but this has been disheartening esp after I just collected the car.

  9. Understand there are quite a few old birds in MCF, will be grateful if anyone can shed some light on this situation. Facing some employment crisis... A bit of my background, I graduated from a local university with an engineering degree a few years back. My GPA wasn't the best, but it was good enough for a first class honors and was in top 10% of the cohort. From there, I went on to work at a SME providing engineering services (basically, big companies outsource their engineering design needs to us), while doing a part time PhD at the same local university. Within 3.5 years, I ticked all the KPIs required for graduation and submitted my thesis. Reviews for my thesis were extremely positive and I was then able to graduate. This was by no means an easy feat because most full time students struggle to even produce a proper thesis in 4 years. I reckon that credit should also be given to the massive support I got from my professors at school and my ex-bosses at work. Upon graduation, I moved on to another company. Salary isn't high, but I really wasn't expecting too much considering that I was "new" in their domain- Same type of work, but in a different domain. In layman terms, it will be equal to domestic helper cleaning home vs. hotel chambermaid cleaning hotel rooms. Things were fine in the beginning, mostly because I lacked the knowledge in the new industry and also their business processes. Aong the way, I learned and learned, and eventually got the hang of things after a few months. Herein, the problem set in. Being a new guy, I was always assigned to some "senior" staffs under a couple of new area projects, playing the role of "assistant", which I am perfectly fine with. I do not mind being a follower, if the project leader is capable of teaching me something. However, in this cases, the project leaders knew nothing about the domain, nor the process. It was actually their first time running such projects too. What this effectively meant was that I was doing all the leg work, mind work and practically everything, while not a single credit was given. When things were not perfect, I had to take the blame because it was my work. When things were great, suddenly I was forgotten. At the same time, my company started looking at restructuring and I couldn't be sure when it will be my turn. Dejected, I started looking for opportunities outside. Despite numerous attempts at dropping resume and cover letters, I just couldn't find another job. After 5 months of job seeking, I got interviews with three companies. Weirdly, all gave the same conclusion, " We like you a lot, but your area of expertise...". This is despite my attempts at making clear that I was willing to learn and am a quick learner. I am wondering what exactly is my problem in preventing me from moving on or getting a chance for an interview. Is it the advance engineering degree? Or my current over-inflated job title? Or do I give off the vibe that I am expensive to hire? What will you do if you were in my shoe? *Disclaimer, I am really cheap to hire. My peers, who started PhD together with me and graduated 1 year later (Remember...I took 3.5 years...most full time were taking 4.5 to 5 years), are easily drawing 10-30% more than me even without work experience.

  18. Hi All, I am asking this for a friend who owns a 2007 Audi A4 Cabrio 1.8. The cabrio top motor was change a year ago and now PA says motor pump is not working well and the top can only open half way and cannot fully open. I don't quite believe that the motor or pump is not working well simply because if the motor is spoilt, the cabrio top shouldn't even start to move. Secondly, when the cabrio top is fully closed, upon starting the car or ignition ON, the Cabrio top malfunction light blinks on the dashboard. The windows which are suppose to open a little whenever the door is open, did not work either. So I suspect the problem is related to some kind of reset issue. Any workshop that is honest and reasonable charges to recommend? Thank you Bros

  20. What a predicament! http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...disappears.html Woman driver with 2 child passengers gets car stuck on road This car was left high and dry on a road divider at Sin Min Avenue. The driver of the vehicle was apparently a woman travelling with two young children. STOMPer Melvin writes: "This car climbed a road divider that was at least 30cm high. This happened along Sin Ming Ave this morning (Mar 5) at about 10am. "The woman driver and a couple of young children passengers were shaken but unhurt." STOMPer mikael also commented on the driver: "The driver of this car must have been sleeping. "The driver drove the car into the road divider at Sin Min Avenue. What a klutz! "When I took this photo, the hazard lights were on but the driver was nowhere to be seen. "The driver was probably too embarrassed to be seen in public."
  21. STOMPer Kirbyzxc was on his way to work when he was delayed by a train service disruption along the North South Line. This is the most recent in a series of incidents involving SMRT trains having problems that lead to a service disruption. Said the STOMPer: "Today, SMRT was facing problems yet again. "I am rushing to work yet the train service has been disrupted. "This is not the first time. "SMRT has disappointed us by having so much problems. "I hope they will keep they train service in order all the time. "Because of this incident, Somerset MRT station packed with people early in the morning. http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg..._yet_again.html
  22. This time no way another AOG denial clause right? Now whom STOMPer's insurance company has to claim from now: TC, PUB or HDB? From STOMP: http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...gets_stuck.html Posted on 11 Dec 2011 Driver hurts back when car wheel gets stuck in manhole with broken cover STOMPer Jason hurt his back when one of the wheels on his car got stuck in a manhole which had a broken cover. Said the STOMPer: "I was driving my car out of my HDB estate near Blk 679B Jurong West Central 1 at about 1:30pm yesterday (Dec 10). "As I was exiting the HDB estate, there was a car in front of me which safely proceeded onto the main road. "I was the second car and as I was driving out of the estate towards the main road, my entire car sank into an unknown depression. "There was a loud bang, and I noticed that my car had tilted towards the right side in a very dangerous manner. "My engine stalled and I was unable to drive on. Due to the impact of the accident, I suffered severe pains in my lower back and I had to stagger out of my car. "To my horror, when I came out of my car, I noticed that the manhole cover was missing. "Subsequently, upon examining the hole which was about 1.5 metres deep, I found that the manhole metal cover was broken into pieces and had landed at the bottom of the manhole. "My car was stuck at the location for a total of 3 hours. From the pictures which I had taken, the metal cover covering the manhole had broken into three pieces. "The surrounding area around the manhole was also rusty. The missing manhole cover can lead to serious injuries or even death for: 1. Pedestrians especially elderly and young children 2. Parents pushing their baby pram 3. cyclist 4. motorcyclist 5. any other vehicles. "In the event that any person were to fall into the manhole which is 1.5m deep, there could be serious injury or fatality involved. "Just two weeks ago, a 21-year-old beautician Sim Sin Ee was killed when her boyfriend's car apparently went over a pothole in the road. "Their vehicle had crossed over the central divider and was hit by vehicles travelling in the opposite direction."
  23. Fromk ST Forum: http://www.straitstimes.com/STForum/Story/...ory_719226.html Stuck with an expensive lemon on four wheels Published on Oct 3, 2011 MY FAMILY bought a Mercedes-Benz last year and within two weeks of the collection of the vehicle from Cycle & Carriage, the engine stalled. Assuming that it was our unfamiliar handling of the car, we dismissed the problem until the Merc stalled repeatedly. The new car was sent to the service centre many times. It was even checked by experts from Germany, but the stalling continued - it stalled eight times in a year. When we asked for a replacement, we were told repeatedly to monitor the vehicle after each servicing. We were promised that if the fault was not rectified, the matter would be brought to the attention of higher management. When we finally met the senior manager, we were denied a replacement. He justified his company's stand by stating that the car should be repaired within the warranty period. We were disappointed with the way the case was handled and it raised an important public issue: There is no law in Singapore to protect consumers like the lemon law in the United States. I am now saddled with yet another problem, which has to do with the air-conditioning of the car. Having paid so much money to own what we thought was a reliable marque, we have had more than our fair share of inconveniences, frustrations and time lost. Where can we seek help? Wendy Ng (Ms)
