  3. NETIZENS SLAM SAFRA OVER 'SEXIST' POSTER ADVERTISING GYM MEMBERSHIP SAFRA has come under fire over an advertisement that has been displayed at several bus stops around Singapore that some have called 'sexist'. The ad, pictured above, shows a gym scenario where two young men working out are checking out a girl who is standing in the foreground. It is accompanied by the caption "A great workout, good friends and some healthy distractions.” It is an ad about SAFRA membership. One concerned Singaporean who saw the ad, took a photo of it and posted it to the SAFRA facebook page to voice her concern about the poster: . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Then today, I saw this. SAFRA releases new gym ad targeting men, undoes sexism of previous ad Posted on 11 March 2014 New ad tries to be politically correct, shows a man of minority race working out instead of a Chinese woman. After receiving death threats and some complaints from some quarters regarding its previous gym advertisement that portrayed two men mentally raping a woman, SAFRA has come up with a new ad. The new gym ad aims to undo the damage done by the previous ad that objectified the woman as a piece of meat. For the new ad, a male model of minority race was chosen as it is more politically correct than using a Chinese woman as a model. A SAFRA spokesman, Tong Xing Lian, said: “This ad is appropriate because we managed to get rid of the sexism of men ogling at a woman. Now it shows men ogling at a man, because SAFRA is a man’s organisation.” “In NS, everybody is a man and it is all about men. Men shower with men, men sleep with men and men are taught how to die for other men.” “This is the SAFRA spirit.” At press time, SAFRA said they have received a call from one Lawrence Khong of FCBC.
  4. Just came across this DBS ad on the internet was impressed, very much like the touching Thai ads, and the Malaysian CNY ads I wonder was it done by a Thai ad agency https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghDQjbDeqxE
  5. What's the latest car advertisement you've seen lately that makes you go "Wow, the guy who thought of that should be promoted!"? A recent good one that came to mind was the BMW / Merc 100 years anniversary one, but this blows those away, IMHO. Presenting: What do you want in a car? http://img-9gag-fun.9cache.com/photo/aKqLqOb_460sv.mp4 Can't find a way to attach it as just a GIF file though..
  6. Just to check with the car owners here I am thinking of doing that if got lobang haha
  7. Who saw the advertisement during 10pm news on Ch 8 just now? They reuse the same ad for so many yrs.. From SBC to TCS to mediacorp. The telephone number do not have a 6 in front! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBBfxW1boJk
  8. The new ad for the brand-new Hyundai Elantra features Deadpool actor, Ryan Reynolds, well, everywhere. As two women drive their new Elantra down suburban streets, they see Ryan Reynolds in every man they pass. Being that he’s a pretty big heartthrob at the moment, the two women can’t look away and are easily getting distracted. This is right up until the moment that they almost run over a man, who looks like Ryan Reynolds, walking his dogs. But they don’t hit him because the car can stop itself to protect them while they’re distracted. Watch the video here.
  9. Hi guys, there's an ad from Borneo a couple of days ago. They're giving a complimentary upgrade for 3 specific models: 1. Camry 2.0L to 2.5L 2. Corolla Altis Standard to Elegance 3. Wish Standard to Elegance I'm curious though. Does it mean you pay the price for a basic model and get a higher specs model?
  10. Have you seen this? Goes to show that when drivers are distracted, accidents will almost surely happen. 'An advertising campaign showing a woman's breasts has been blamed for more than 500 traffic accidents in one day. The massive adverts placed on the side of 30 trucks driving around Moscow showed a woman's breasts cupped in her hands with the slogan 'They Attract' across her nipples.' 11. Every now and then, we get car makers who come up with amazing advertisements that catches our attention. Toyota Europe's 'Go Fun yourself' advertising campaign's new commercial sure did! 14. Mind-blowing car commercials that employ optical illusions and jaw-clenching stunts instead of computer animation are becoming the norm these days, and Honda joins the crowd in its latest European commercial for the CR-V 1.6 i-DTEC Diesel. http://dai.ly/x164f5t In the advertisment, the Japanese carmaker uses well-placed props and well-drawn imagery to trick viewers into seeing the 'impossible'. 16. If driving a car is one of your daily routines, I suppose that you know how it feels to be surprised by a vehicle that just comes out of nowhere every now and then. The vehicle seems to have come out of nowhere because each and every single car out there has a blind spot. In fact, due to the blind spot, automakers are now equipping their cars with technologies that can help drivers with the blind spot issue. One automaker to do this is Volkswagen (VW). The German automaker is now equipping its cars with what it calls 'Side Assist' technology. Taking advantage of two rear radars, this technology is capable of scanning the areas behind the car for as far as 50 metres and also in the blind spots at the sides of the car. This technology will light an indicator at the side mirrors when a vehicle is in the blind spot. So, if there's a vehicle in the blind spot of the left side, VW's side assist technology will light the indicator at the left side mirror. To introduce its side assist feature, Volkswagen has come up with something that may turn out quite strange, or somehow amusing. The German automaker creates a video advertisement showing a man cleaning himself up in front of the mirror when, all of a sudden, a rather chunky, bearded man stares at him from behind the back. Afterwards, a message is displayed saying, "Beware of the biker that comes from nowhere."
  17. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bowkytZAVdw After Ford, Hyundai is the next car maker to apologise over a controversial commercial. The video, created by agency, Innocean Europe for Hyundai UK, shows a man trying to attempt suicide in his garage by hooking up the exhaust pipe to the cabin of his Hyundai ix35 Fuel Cell. The attempt failed as the ix35 only emits water vapours and not carbon monoxide which blocks the transport of oxygen to the brain, heart, and other vital organs in the body. Hyundai issued an apology statement that read, "Hyundai Motor deeply and sincerely apologises for the offensive viral ad. It runs counter to our values as a company and as members of the community. We are very sorry for any offense or distress the video caused. More to the point, Hyundai apologises to those who have been personally impacted by tragedy." Hyundai has removed the YouTube video after widespread criticism on social media. However, the video has been uploaded by other netizens.

  19. Ford lands itself in hot soup in India due to a series of advertisements promoting the Figo compact MPV. Titled 'Leave your worries behind', there are three advertisements meant to illustrate the Figo's spacious boot. The most controversial of them all shows former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi smiling behind the wheel of the Figo with three scantily dressed women tied up and bundled into the boot. These women each had a ball stuck in their mouths. With the 2012 Delhi gang rape case still fresh in every one's mind and a similar case involving a Swiss national recently, Ford's advertisements with sexual connotations is bound to attract negative public reaction. As a result, Ford had to issue an apology via a press statement: "We deeply regret this incident and agree with our agency partners that it should have never happened. The posters are contrary to the standards of professionalism and decency within Ford and our agency partners. Together with our partners, we are reviewing approval and oversight processes to help ensure nothing like this ever happens again." The other two advertisements features Michael Schumacher as the driver with his F1 rivals in the boot and Paris Hilton with the Kardashian sisters tied up in the boot.
  20. for example if one was to have his car polished and the grooming center takes a photo of the owner's car and post it on their website, advertising their products or services, without the owner's consent, despite masking out the number plate, is that legal? anyone encountered this issue before? care to share...
  21. We have come across advertisements like the one above, from insurance or real estate companies in our local tabloids. Usually there is a picture with rows of agents whom are smiling and celebrating their success with the most business and obviously earning a large sum for commission. Visually similar to your annual school yearbook. Online insurance company DirectAsia.com has done the exact opposite. For its latest advertising campaign, they have featured happy customers, instead of agents in their spoof ads, with the phrase, "Insurance companies today seem to have a lot of happy agents. Quite frankly, we'd rather have happy customers.
  22. General Motors (GM) has decided to pull its advertising campaigns from Facebook, citing that their paid advertisement had little effect on customers. The move comes just days ahead of Facebook's initial public offering. GM spokesman, Pat Morrissey, commented that the automaker is reassessing its Facebook advertising and clarified that the review is part of a regular analysis the company conducts on spending its advertising funds effectively. "We look at this with all media outlets, we look at the effectiveness," he said. "We move money around to various outlets." GM's announcement adds fuel to critics who say that Facebook, and other tech sites, may be overvalued. More than 50 percent of Facebook users say they never click on Facebook's sponsored advertisement, according to a recent Associated Press-CNBC poll. In addition, only 12 percent of respondents say they feel comfortable making purchases over Facebook, questioning the effectively of monetizing the social network platform. Facebook
  23. After General Motors (GM) decided to terminate its $10 million Facebook advertisement budget, rival Ford Motor quickly point out that the company is sticking by its commitment to the world's largest social network. Global head of social media for Ford, Scott Monty, tweeted that Ford believes Facebook advertisements are effective as part of a general strategy, but not as a "straight media buy". His comments seem to imply that GM does not know how to harness the effectiveness of social media fully. Ford has more than 1.5 million
