You were lucky this man don't know how to handle this kind of situation also. If call police I think you'll get some sort of fine already. There's a reason why during driving test you'll get demerit points if you don't check your blindspot before turning.

Anyway I also not sure for this kind of roads how to cycle. For me I'll just cycle on the lane that is straight and left, if I am going straight. But someone will always horn at me and expect me to keep all the way to the left even though the leftmost lane is for left turn only. Wonder which is the correct way.

Ya consider lucky. I didn't check blindspot becos I am looking at the pedestrians crossing the road,

which to me is the most important at that moment.

Actually hor, that stupid cyclist should have cross the road together with the pedestrians.

Then I would have notice him.

But how to report Police of a hit and run cases if I did not get the cyclist detail and his

Bicycle registration number?

Anyway, I have a Taxi Uncle behind me who saw the whole incident willing to be my witness if required.

And funny thing is, the taxi uncle is on my side.

Follow the lane markings. The cyclist not only was in the wrong, he didn't look out for his own safety.

I am amuse how the cyclists becomes super defensive when such topics comes up, insisting there are provisions in the law to ensure their safety must be protected. Sure there are such laws, but are they enforced? Bitching about your rights in a forum does not make u less susceptible to death. The roads here are just not very welcoming to cyclists. Everyone knows it. Make a choice and test your luck. It is the same as swimming in shark infested water. If you feel lucky then go ahead. Also, antagonizing drivers in forums will not help your cause.

The roads aren't the issue. In fact they're perfect. The problem are the many third world drivers. Why don't you try knocking one down? Even if he/she was in the wrong, we'll see who TP prosecutes [sly]

One more thing, copious amounts of windscreen washer fluid is very effective in getting rid of cyclists or motorcyclists who love to ride in your blindspot.

Are you the guy who did the washer wiper thingy and then got pwned by the Kia???

LOL!!!

Is that why you have a new clone account to spout your rubbish? [laugh]

LOSER!

Based on what you said you didn't do anything wrong, but be careful. TP does err on the side of more vulnerable motorists on the road (take the truck that braked and a motorcycle crashed into its rear- the truck driver got arse raped).

This is the part where I feel that TP should change though I am a cyclist. Now if a driver were to get into an accident with a car, its always majority of the blame on the driver no matter how the cyclist was riding. Was told that the reason is they consider cyclists as pedestrians when it comes to an accident. Probably that is why there are still many cyclists not following the traffic laws.

TP in SG should be like the TP in Aust. Both parties should be whacked, not just the "more serious offender"

Nicholl Hwy is not an expressway... you can even get Cisco to escort your cycling group if you pay them on Nicholl Hwy... the only places where cycling is not permitted are the expressways (ECP,PIE, CTE, KPE, BKE.... ), Fort Canning Tunnel and the PAVEMENTS in all places except the cycling towns...

Cycling on the road should not be dangerous unless the cyclist weave left and right or the driver fails to give them sufficient room... do always remember than bicycles can go up to 40km/h but they cannot slow down as fast as a car... so just be a patient driver, move out a little and give them some space.

I drive and I cycle to work at times... would you prefer to have another car on the road in front of you which you cannot pass easily or would you prefer a bicycle that you can pass easily ?

Nope - he did something wrong - never checked his blindspot or his mirrors.

I have motorcyclists do the same thing, I am on the left lane, signal for damn long for a left turn up ahead, the motorcycle creeps up behind me and as I slow down to make the turn - overtakes me on the left???!!!

But I ALWAYS check my mirrors - every 5 seconds I am glancing at my rearview and side mirrors - I am FULLY aware of what is within 5 metres of me on all sides.

Why can't the rest of you?

You gotta remember - not everyone is as smart as us in this car forum!!!???

For me, i will think like a driver. I will move to the next lane to go straight. If drivers can't understand, they should re-take Basic Theory.

Same here... signal with hand amd move to the next lane... stimes next lane is a turn lane or go straight, I wud stay just left of the middle of the lane so that cars can't turn left into my path and i'm more visible to them..

Fully agreed - alas, most drivers here and in Singapore are not gracious at all.

Maybe it's the fault of our education system or our parents or our government...but we can change!

The only question is, do we want to?

Thanks and that's why I stayed put at the scene and offered to help call the police or ambulance for him.

I am prepared to be screwed and face whatever s--t, just consider myself unlucky.

If really TP want to screw my ass, no choice but make sure it's a beautiful TP [gorgeous]

If I remember correctly, you are also ex-SPF regular

Have always been doing this when I encounter a left turn lane. But always get horned at by the other cars behind me as well. [mad] Some even overtake very closely and try and squeeze me back to the leftmost lane.
