These devices read the real time sensor information from your ECU as well as scan and clear CEL codes. They use bluetooth to connect to your phone (mostly android, I'm not familiar with iOS crap) with the help of apps like Torque.

so the steps are...

1. plug and play

2. download Torque apps from android

3. try to fiqure out whats in the app and its readouts?

After u plug in U need to pair it with your phone and enter some code. Either 1234 or 0000 or what the seller say.

The apps can tell u ur accerlation, revs, compass, speed, trottle, boost, coolant, gps position, roll meter, pitch meter, fuel air system, fuel status, many more display to play with.

For example Mit colt don't have secondary O2 sensor so some display is irrelavent.

The one from DX will still remain power on when you remove your key and the bluetooth codes cannot be changed. Posed as a risk as your ECU could be hacked without you knowing.

I've changed to a HUD version and it still connects to the OBDII port.

There are people who leave it there permanently.

Previously connected it to my Symbian phone using OBDScope, it acts as a digital speedometer and can log all the parameters as I drive.

Can't be plug in and out all the time when driving off.

In a way, it can be considered as a cheaper replacements to the expensive guages and less tampering with the wirings.

Bought a HUD version from HK, connect via wire to the OBDII port and it switches off when power is off.

Actually I just lazy [grin]

I have a spare galaxy s2 in my glovebox that I will occasionally turn on to check on water temp readings, fault codes or any other parameters, but got physical gauges to monitor the important stuff. Just that I lazy so I leave the transmitter plugged into obd port.

Plz dun hacks my car
