Usually these tests are done on a lab dyno,not really accurate in actual day to day traffic.

Aiyo. All lab test n in unreal conditions. Their claims are super highly unachieveable.

 

Just ask around your friends for their actual fc. Ths is more real than reports.

 

Average 11-13 km/l shd be a gd number.

Yes the numbers might be different from actual driving, so by itself they don't mean much. But they are useful in comparing the relative fuel efficiency of various makes, so at least you'll know which are the better ones in terms of fuel consumption

Later discover that the premium you pay can actually buy a lot of petrol.

if you are just comparing an average car, most are similar...

 

petrol consumption/efficiency of a car also depends a lot on the driver's right foot...

 

some people becomes so obssessed about hypermiling that they drive the car for a different reason

 

for me, i just drive the car as it should be driven... enjoy your ride...

Anyway,if you going to buy a car,you should 'roughly' knows the fuel efficiency,let's says,you going to buy an GTR,don't expect it to run like an Hybrid.

If you need good fuel efficiency, go conti route. Nowadays, most contis are more fuel efficient than Japs even if the figures quoted are not as fantastic as Japs 'cos most are much closer to real world figures than....

I think the rule of thumb for urban driving is 2km/litre of fuel lesser than what is stated in advertisements. FC is dependent on several factors, e.g. one's driving habits, car loading, road and traffic conditions. I have been eyeing VW but after hearing from colleagues that VW has some problems with its gear boxes, plus it's a conti make - parts are likely to be more expensive than compared to the Japs. I'm now seriously considering cars which might be cheaper to maintain and to source, e.g Toyota once more.

Latest altis 1.6 if driven efficiently can achieve over 18km/l. Most Korean cars able to achieve at least 16km/l as well.
