Insight FC isn't any much better than Civic 1.6 and 1.8. The new one if no wrong is using lithium battery which doesn't have much mileage on the road yet, but I read quite a few complaints about the battery on their battery overseas.

For hybrid info, you need to search more on global forum, or you can try lowyat forum, hardly see anyone driving hybrid in Singapore.

You might wanna see the FC test done in Taiwan, they always use the same route, same condition and Pruis achieve over 31km/l

Was told their first model may not be good after the new battery improvement. Thought the motor & engine helped in a way on the FC. The new hybrid civic has the big battery obstructed at the centre of the boot whereas the Insight is hidden behind the spare tire as seen. Just wondering alot in the forum being sold too!!!!

You might wanna see their full review on Insight

It depends on what you really need, what I can say is insight is good in boot space and the price is reasonable due to below 1.6L.

As for FC wise, depends on how you drive your civic, you will be achieve almost the same FC as an Insight as Insight is a mild Hybrid.

Me too, if you do a search, most of them on the old civic hybrid curse and swear... Their battery give way like 2 to 3 yrs time, and mostly running on the engine instead of Hybrid.

The newer ones should be better, but can't say much on the battery yet as this lithium batt technology is still quite new on the Hondas.

In terms of financial point of view changing car now is crazy. Car prices are ridiculously high. Do not kid yourself just by looking at fc. The overall cost of purchasing, maintenance and misc cost make fc cost difference insignificant. Drive your current car and take good care of it saves more money dan your idea of switching to another car.

So very true!

I book my Prius C during July because my COE end 2013 year end. Scare COE quota goes down and price shoot, so I KC spider go book one then, but delay the collection till this week due to no financial benefit to drive a good FC car earlier.

My Matrix though drinks like mad arse, but still save as it's being fully paid.... Now I have to go thru the bloody monthly installment again... [bigcry]

I believe by then when you want to switch to your idea car, car price might even shoot up even higher than now. [rolleyes] So i guess if you intend to buy/change car, do it now rather than later, cause seems like car price would not come down much.

Depends on situation lah, if let say your car is still relatively young <5 YO, check out the value, if can earn, just change now.

If over >7, just drive till scrape, by then will save up quite a nice figure just by not changing car now.

Ultimately still depends on individual... Earn 12k can own a 1.77M EC, there are alot of rich parents around....

But you are limiting yourself to only one option. How about give up driving option or used car option?

Since the title has a "2012", TS is suggesting new car, no?

the rich are buying COE and others are depending low COE. My civic is 2011 so the value is there for a change. Thinking whether is wise to switch to Insight as petrol expect to increase as high to $3.

Quite true, seems like those people who are changing car is taking advantage of the current super high COE, but these people their car is less than 4 year old. And those people who are still hoping for the COE to drop or continue driving their current car, most of them their car usually is at least over 5 year old or more.

Used car price also super expensive. Imagine paying over $60K plus for a 4 to 5 year old car?! [hur]

Maybe you can share your Civic model, 1.6 or 1.8, driving style, where you usually drive, road condition and around what time?

Sometimes it's not just the car, it's also the leg.
