Actually isn't it better to improve your lot rather than spend time & energy complaining? The people who get rich dont spend much time complaining I notice but spend time acquiring wealth. Sometime I feel even if everything people complain are addressed or resolved, the very same people will still be disatisfied. If we are trapped in this circle of complains, it hard to improve our own standing and elevate ourselves. When no one complains, the persons in charge may not know something needs their attentions and improvements. So I won't say complaints are bad for this reason. We can't always assume that things will "self-improve" when there isn't any complaint, feedback. While I do feel that excessive, repeated complaints from the same person is unnecessary, I won't assume, without knowing the person well, that he is not working on the solution, or he only complains and does nothing about it. For all we know, he may be working on the solutions and taking his break for tea, and makes the complaint while having a teabreak. I won't mind making this assumption of tea+complaint scenario instead of jumping on him with a pointing finger. There are also people who really have limited resources to come up with solutions eg those who belong to the lower spectrum of our society in terms of resources and connections, they complain to make their plights know. Problem is when complaining becomes a habit, and too much energy is devoted to it. Yeah minions complain ..those complaining minion stay as minions. Those people whom get the job done are promoted whilst the minion continue to complain about their plight, why they are nor promoted, why they get the shat jobs, why company this way, why people dont help them, why are they stuck in this position for years etc etc. Conversely, the people who think positively, try to solve the problem, put up with temporarly difficulties are the people who get ahead...maybe even get better jobs, positions elsewhere. I believe its our choice to make, our future is in our own hands, not Govt, policy, but in the way that we think. People want to migrate to white land, this white lander say SG is a dream! At the same time when we take a person's complaints also as his way of relieving his frustrations, and let him enjoy his relief which costs me nothing, I am ok with it. For those who are truly helpless beyond their control, there are really such persons, believe me, complaints become the only thing they can do, at least they feel better making the complaints. No harm let them complain, right? I feel most complainants we come across do make an effort to overcome their problems.
