I'm not driving proton cars but previously all go hawk tyre. Felt that they may be slightly more ex than other workshops but feel the workmanship better.

 

Eg had some throttle response issue. AD in singapore say coolant system got problem need 1.5k to 1.8k sgd to overhaul and need 2 weeks to disassemble everything to confirm. Hawk tyre boss tell me need to clean filter with chemical and charge me rm80 for the chemical and labour. Settle in less than an hour and solves the problem (at least the problem never surface anymore after that)

Yeah....a bit more than other normal jb workshop. But i on mind cos so far they hv been quite honest. Wont change wats not needed even if car owner wants to change.

The 2 weeks wait is for the spares to arrive. Not only for cars in SG for this particular make have to wait for spares from their capital to arrive, those in JB also have to wait that long... Go figure..

Anyway, any idea where are the stockist for MY make cars in JB that you know of?

Nah. The 2 weeks not waiting for spare parts. AD told me it's 2 weeks to diagnose ordering of parts were after the diagnosis of the issue.

 

But anyway I was previously driving P2 car and most of the time I get the parts directly from them as they always have stock.

There was once I had to replace the fuel pump and went to a third party workshop urgently, their invoice breakdown of the price also kinda indicate they probably got from AD too. As the fuel pump unit price was the same when I enquired from AD, so that workshop only charged me for the labour.

 

If not urgent, my ex-colleague's uncle owns an ICE workshop in Malaysia and he was able to source for original parts at about 30% cheaper.

When you said OE parts at 30% cheaper is compare to MY AD or SG AD? Can PM me the workshop info if you don't mind?

Suggest if you are driving Proton, use Original Parts from Malaysia 

 

My Wiper (Front & Back) + Front Brake both OEM, kena squeaky sound - super Uneasy

After swop to original Proton, No Sound at All - Happy ... Price is reasonable in Malaysia

Do not use OEM, cause seen article using OEM brake - More Damage to whole brake unit, by that time : Spend more $ $ $ to change whole set

I get what you mean and thanks for pointing that out.

IMHO, when I buy OEM parts I make sure its original part manufactured for that make.

Original parts means the packaging will have the car make logo but sometimes they do not manufacture those parts themselves. Eg, Honda fluids are mostly manufactured by Idemitsu.

In MY they like to use the term Compatible (most likely Bosch brand). This is just my observation when doing repairs over there.

I believe in your case, the parts are Compatible parts not OEM hebce the confusion..

Hi sorry for late reply. The 30% cheaper is relative to Singapore AD. As for the workshop, it's dealing with ICE and not actual repair/maintenance. Ex colleague was previously doing me a favour to pull some strings. Now no longer driving P2 car and also left ex company liao so not comfortable to call for such favours.

my abs lighted up for many yrs already. didnt bother to change. wats ur mileage? how do u know need to change timing belt. cos i wanna know also. my mileage almost hitting 80k. aircon not cold u can check ur aircon filter. i encountered it last mth. tot no gas. but the workshop jus took out the filter, n my gosh...it was so dirty. mechanic cleaned it up n its now super cold agn.

suggest u go to a workshop in jb, n hv the car checked. at least if anything needs to b changed, they sure hv the parts. im gonna do that for my next servicing in abt 3mths time.

My 100K full servicing include all belt / engine / brake / coolant + rear 2 x Brake pump {RM250 each side} : total RM1500+

 

Rear brake pad + front brake RM700+ all include labor

Hi all, thank from me to be able joining this group.
I'm Ahmad.

I need help/ advise regarding my Exora has indication lamp ON, it always appear.
CVT lamp and Engine lamp.
Cause of this 2 lamp ON, i can't bring my car more than 80 KM/ hours and my RPM limited to 2500.

Any body can answer this question? My SC recommended to replace Acceleration Pedal Sensor.
Cause from computer check, show alarm acceleration pedal sensor 1 and 2 low.
Try to reset, alarm acceleration pedal sensor 1 still appears.
