There's probably a few components to this.

 

1) Drinking like you said

2) Their love for fermented products. Doenjang and Gochujang are all fermented bean paste. Well known that long term eating of this increases stomach cancer. That's why the japanese are the world leaders in stomach cancer research and treatment.

3) Eating bbq meat doesn't help as well

Generally speaking. If u adding in more seafood, I would use chicken stock. If u don't want to make your own then just get those packet one?

 

Ikan billis won't be my choice. Unless u want to make soupy Yong tau hu. Even then I think it's more suitable to make stew like kimchi.

Hmm if not cny or what, if u Gian steamboat just quickly cook and eat haha.

 

 

To make a proper stock. U need a lot of veggies, fried fresh prawn shells/老母鸡 plus minus chicken feet/pork bones/dried fish/deep fried fish bones or proper kelp in the case of anchovies.
