Feedback about Golf Mk 7

Actually I am talking about the Golf Sporks Mk6 vs Mk7. Mk6 has a 1.4l engine, surbocharged, 160 horse and can out run many a 2l out there. That's why I said earlier I will miss my car when it's gone.

Although I did consider upgrading to a GTI, I will probably not buy a VW again. The cars are fine but the aftersales is not very good.

If send in for repairs due to DSG issues or warranty claims in general, don't they provide courtesy cars in the meantime? (Or their replacement cars also under repairs? [:p] )

Courtesy car is not immediate. You must wait a day or 2 while they assess what's wrong with your car. My courtesy car was an ancient and filthy Polo that had to be revved and braked really hard. At first the estimated repair time was 1 week but it became 2 weeks because they needed stocks from Germany. All the while I had no updates from the SA and had to call him proactively to get news.

Don't have idea about lackluster serving issues and DSG problems as I don't own any VW. But Golf MK7 is one heck of car to drive, handling and acceleration are incredibly good for a "lowly" 1.4L car. Truly a fun car to drive. If VW ever put in a engine good enough for 0-100km below 6s......looks out.

This for sharing bro.

Personally will like VW to 'succeed' as their cars generally have a very solid feel.

I won't comment on the company's policy of reluctant recalls since I don't own a VW, but I like its cars for its design and feel it is a pity that their DSG issue and after sales are tarnishing its friendly track record.

You were lucky you got a VW courtesy car.

Somebody got some stinky rental nippon boneshaker with a few billion kilometres mileage on the thing. [shakehead]

With the big big sign 'courtesy car" on the Polo, its like shaming the VW owner whose car that had broken down.

they should just take out the "courtesy car" sign. It will looks better that way.

Nah, that's still around 6.5s.

you need to get a 4WD if you are looking at below 6s for 2L. else, you will get alot of wheel spin.

I was considering the Jetta as a replacement for our family car, but down at the showroom, the CO expressed more interest in the Golf instead.

Would appreciate feedback from the bros and sis driving the current Golf.

In particular, Internet has a lot of negative reviews about the DSG gearbox. Does anyone driving the Mk 7 Golf have any issues so far?

Thanks in advance.

from what i've read, the problematic DSG is the DQ200 "dry-clutch" gearbox found in Golfs and Jettas. the "wet-clutch" DQ250 doesn't seem to share such a bad reputation. you can read about the different variants of DSG here.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direct-Shift_...#Transverse_DSG

VW Singapore has just announced a recall to fix the DQ200 issue.

http://ride.asiaone.com/news/general/story...ix-gearbox-flaw

from this review, it looks like the Golf Mk7 is still using the DQ200 gearbox.

http://www.zerotohundred.com/2013/auto-fea...n-mk7-golf-tsi/

"We know that the mk6 had issues with the 7-speed DSG and although the Golf 7 uses the same DQ200 gearbox, VW says that they have worked on improvements in an effort to eliminate the problem. My initial impression is that the gearchanges are noticeably smoother and there

Nope, it's sold out, as with the R model as well.

Waiting for the Mk 7 GTi to be launched end of year.

Thats why there is Golf R

Anyway, if DSG is a problem, why not get the manual? Or it is not available in Singapore.

Even the traditional ADs like Kah Motor (Honda) and Sin Tien Seng (Daihatsu) have stopped bringing both auto and manual version of the same models. You say neh?

But the drive feel of a AWD is ........ quite boring. And i don't really like the turbo lag on the R.

As for dsg problem, the 6 speed wet clutch still ok. [:)]
