So any other bros got first hand experience of driving a Mk 7 other than having seen it being towed?

they can sell, but can't service. service from AD is really hell.

100% agreed,simple service take 1 whole day,simple repair 2 days,a bit more 'major' repair 3-5 days,major ones[change gearbox]7-10 days.

No bro, my mind is not made up. It seems like most of the reviews by car review websites are very positive, yet forum discussions have a lot of negative remarks. That's why I'm hoping to hear from those who actually drive a Mk 7 Golf.

I also don't have $130k to find out for myself first hand who is correct. :D

Your's still new..

We must make a wise decision on getting a reliable car instead of just the outlook like MK 7. With the new rule kicks in, you will need to bear with all the headaches for the next 10 yrs unless your pocket is deep enough to change car within 1 or 2 yrs time.

My 2 cents. [laugh]

Yep the Mk7 was just launched in Jan and hence new. So the mk7s that's were seen broken down on the roads were the old ones?

Between car review website and car forum, I trust car forum anyday.... Car review website are paid to review in most cases and how fair is the review, u be the judge.... [:p]

No doubt the Golf drives well and the interior finishing is good. However, car reviews only test the car for at most a few days so of course they cannot determine the reliability of the car.

Hi

Do check out from Mk7 drivers to make an informed decision. I have read a lot of vw bashing comments and as forums are just avenues for humans to interact, you need to discern the sound advice from the gossips and hearsay. I personally drive an Mk7 and a previous owner of polo which was in the batch of the faulty dsg. I will say that the car feels really different from the earlier versions. Do test drive and compare. If U really want to be sure, you would have to wait for a year or so or get an old model that is tried and tested. New cars will have problems no matter what brand.

Cheers!

TS, mk7 golf is still too new for its reliability feedback. give it another 6 months and check back for review.

Anything that has a 7 speed dry dsg gearbox i will skip for the time being.

It doesn't really matter whether is the old or new MK7, so long is 7 speeds Don't Shift Gears, the chances of breaking down is very high.

What's the point, 换汤不换药.

I was considering the Jetta as a replacement for our family car, but down at the showroom, the CO expressed more interest in the Golf instead.

Would appreciate feedback from the bros and sis driving the current Golf.

In particular, Internet has a lot of negative reviews about the DSG gearbox. Does anyone driving the Mk 7 Golf have any issues so far?

Thanks in advance.

My property agt is driving one.. On the 3rd time I met him for viewing.. His driving a vw courtesy car instead.. car was like 6mth old.. Think i no need elaborate much of Wat happen lol.. Not all vw wit dsg gives problems:: but the chance is there.. Another fren of mine drive a mk6.. Within 20k km already saw he posting towing of his car due to dsg on fb lol.. Most of my fren in car sales n mechanics strongly ask me to stays away fr dis brand.. Lol.. Except the R32.. Car review n forum, my take is forum.. U get real truthful feedbacks fr owners.. Which owner wouldn't kpkb when they kenah lemon!! Lol..

Chances are there.. Take it.. Or switch brand :) juz my personal opinion! Hope it helps..

Yep. I absolutely agree.

Make no mistake, the DSG do have issues, if one should buy, do it with your eyes open. Fortunately the gearbox of the Mk7 is diff from the old ones.

I also agree with forumners who recommend that decisions should rely more on forums feedbacks than test drives. But remember to base it on feedbacks, not claims and bashing. In this thread we have people repeating the "VW DSG suck" bashings without substantiating their claims. We have 2 person who own the Mk 7, we have not heard anyone from our community having this issue.

So far there is a single suspected MK7 breakdown in VAGSG forum andwe do not know if it is the DSG issue. Even as a Mk7 owner it is not easy to differentiate a Mk6 from Mk7 when driving. I am surprised we have some one who has seen A FEW breakdowns of the Mk7.We even have someone complaining about Jetta being made in Mexico when we are talking about the mk7 Golf.....

Please go to VAGS forum instead. Over there, when people complained, they do so because they actually experienced an issue. Over here, a lot are just repeating what others have told them. "Some say.......all VWs have a bit of Satan in everyone of them.... "
