Another workshop to Beware is Karcool and Sung Beng Auto

another shop to beware is mycarshop. Electronic stuffs should be done by the agent only if possible.

Dun install things such as voltage stablisher, power charger etc. Waste of money.

Many carshop in Singapore is manage by FT and to get a good carshop to do your car is not easy.

It is good to ask around especially from those old birds who has been meddling with cars for long time.

Save you trouble and cash.

I have very good experiences with my workshops.... usually I visited on recommendation.. would not like to walk-in to a WS on my own

Car Audio and electrical needs - WS in SIMS AVENUE

Car Servicing and Repair - WS in AMK Autopoint

Car Alignment - WS in AMK Autopoint

btw, no discrimination, the 1st two WS are FT but they are real talent.......

which are the good workshops in the west?

good or bad, all workshop want to make money 1, as car owner we have to be carefull no matter how good the review.

my advice is when u visit any workshop, alway ask how much the price before agreeing to let them touch your car.

dun just go in say u want do this this this, then leave the car there, and surprise by the charges later.

and for troubleshooting cases, unless u damn sure wat need to replace, if not tell the workshop the problem let them check for u, and quote u first before going ahead with the work.

Neutral Newbie

Hi Jazzmeup, my bmw 320i, gearbox pronounced totally dead by PML. Where did u get your recon gearbox? Mine's really urgent. How much and where? Trustable? Thanks in advance!

The price?

It's reasonable. If u go to the other workshop to do recon, they probly send it to this place, then the workshop up it for their commissions.

U might as well go the place I PMed u. Only thing, u must be prepared to wait from 5 to 7 days, cos that's the usual waiting time.

There are a workshop at braddell road next to a coffee shop. Do not visit them. This is my story.

I went there to fix a car alarm system and change light of console it was not properly done. My car ends up frequently has to jumpstart and also fuel guage needle fails to function properly afterwards.

They blame on the age of my car which is only 5 yrs old and they blame on my alternator but not their product. I got 2 workshops to test and alternator is ok. They told me that I have to buy this and that to improve my car electrical system and I believed it and turn out to cause more problem.

[bigcry]

In the end, I remove everything and car is ok now. Turn out the car alarm system is giving problem. I wasted thousand of dollars on that car shop.

The owner girlfriend even insulted me. The young owner said his car is BMW while mine is Jap car. Crap! Trying to insult me?

This is the type of work shop that we should boycott. Let them know that customers is the king.

Beware that incorrect installation of electronic or electrical stuff by incompetent or unskilled mechanics run the risk of causing further damage to your car.

The best is either go back to agent or to a specialist workshop who knows very well the car brand/model you are driving.

Have you considered Khang Auto?

I believe they are specialized in gearbox issues.

Bro, there are a number of WS that don't really know how to do the works properly.

There ar also a number of not very experienced FTs working in these WS. Remember, one wrong connection to the wiring, and ur car performance is at risk.

I remembered purchasing the RX8 some years ago when the new model came out and then a week later saw in the Chinese papers tt the same model caught fire on singapore road. Quickly called my salesman from Mazda and asked him if my car will b ok and what happened to tt car. He said tt the owner modified the car illegally and most probably wiring literally went haywire...

U lucky tt no physical harm.

Best thing for u to do is to go to the AD to put t alarm, though probably cost 2-4 times more. If not, I m sure some of our bros here can recommend a really good WS for your alarm.

Safe driving, bro.

Without the right technical information, data and schematics and off course the use of specialty tools, how on earth are those shops going to provide Professional repairs and services. Information and specialty tools do not come cheap and if those shops who wish to go the professional way they just have to get the customers to pay for it. Good and professional services cannot come cheap. Cheap services cannot be good.

For BMW, normally replacing the mechatronic will solve the problem.

PML will find all opportunities to chop carrot. Of cause they said need to replace whole GB.

If I remember correctly, new gear box, depending on model is about $8000 to $16,000 including labour excluding gst for Beamer. Is it still the same price?
