Jman888 Moderator September 20, 2013 Share September 20, 2013 My recent understanding from road traffic act 276. Although LTA allowed one to keep a deregistered vehicel if one can proved it will be kept off any public road or roads repaired using public money The last time I check with the authority......The staff informed me they still want the owner to specially register a Deregistered vehicle for keeping in a private condo. And the 'permit' is renewable every three years. If you have the FREE lobang, please guide me...so that I can avoid paying fees to Authority for keeping a deregistered(COE expired) vehicle in private condo. scrap the car, take out the engine lor ↡ Advertisement
Sdxx 1st Gear September 20, 2013 Share September 20, 2013 I wasn't serious in my earlier statement. Of course i know property cannot. But i am just irritated with idiots that just keep saying things like COE must pay all cash, blah blah blah. This is an obviously self-serving statement which only benefits the rich and further disadvantages the not-so-rich. Yes they conveniently ignore the facts that there are people who needs car and have to take loan for it. They also forget they are people who purposely take loan (low interest rate) and rather invest their money for bigger returns. let people decide what to do with their money. I am not saying for song nia, there is a upper limit to the coe price i willing to pay, if it goes beyond that. I am prepare to give up driving. Complain so much for what? i am lucky i have that option. For now, if prople want to loan just let them be. everything cash might as well make credit card illegal. OmOm 5th Gear September 20, 2013 Share September 20, 2013 This is called laying up a vehicle: http://www.onemotoring.com.sg/publish/onem...cle/lay_up.html Do note that if the vehicle has any PARF (i.e. before it reaches ten years of life), it will be forfeited once the vehicle has been laid up. LidoCar Neutral Newbie September 21, 2013 Share September 21, 2013 One way to control COE is for Govt to allow Singapore cars to drive forever till the owner change. It is a stupid idea to fix a lifespan of 10 years to a car, just a govt trick to earn more money from the people. Looks more like a rental than owning a car. Singapore Car without COE is already much more costly than other country. Should not earn this kind of money from the people, bad karma.
Wt_know Supersonic September 21, 2013 Share September 21, 2013 (edited) they need expiry date to "recycle" coe without expiry date they can only issue new coe until 1 point totally close the tap then no one can buy new car ... new buyer who can pay million got no car dealer die bank die govt die no $$$ look at the big picture ... coe and expiry date is a form of recycling the limited sources again and again each time ... the one who is willing to pay highest got the resource it's a genius idea to serve the purpose One way to control COE is for Govt to allow Singapore cars to drive forever till the owner change. Thats why PARF are no longer applicable upon exceeding 10 years of age, and an increasing road tax of 10% every year from year 11 to year 15. ↡ Advertisement
