Aurius Vs I30 Vs Golf...

I prefer independent double wishbone setup and I believe it's also a costlier setup(I mean most independent setup are). Of course some of you might argue torsion beam is just as good but I will still choose any independent setup. I prefer the rear wheels to be able to move up and down independently rather dan a beam linking both rear wheels.

Second this.

The most worthy part about getting Auris over Golf or i30 is the rear suspension. The only letdown is the CVT transmission. If local agent brings in the 6-speed manual, that will be haven.

I just can't see myself driving a CVT transmission (not on hybrid) down a slope. For hybrid, there's some regenerative braking = engine brake. CVT especially from Toyota would be like a free-fall. Lol.....

The Toyota CVT really feels like rubber band if it's the similar one as Estima...

Apparently CVT (at least the one used in Honda City) is not bad if the driver uses it 'correctly'. My bro drove one before and he really liked it. He could make it move pretty fast compared with other cars with normal autobox.

I tested the Jazz 1.3. I actually liked it more than the 4AT found on Getz 1.4 and even a relative's Altis 1st Gen.

A friend got into an accident. Replacement car CS3. He didn't comment the ride/CVT. ( His TS 1.6 was in accident ). But when at a later date he rented a Jazz or Fit 1.3....the iDSI version, he was all praises.

He loved the torque which was present even with gentle upslope. Ferrying 5 adults ( mix of male/females ) = no prob. Still adequate torque.

Just that CVT needs more TLC than AT. For "regular" foot work.....should be nicer than AT. Wiki also mentioned that due to the whiny rubber band effect, butt tells u ur slower when in fact most of the time, the CVT will out accl a 4-5 AT.

Seems like the review and comments on aurius not bad. How come this hatchback is better than last time when toyota launched the yaris? But is this aurius made in thailand?

Jazz should be on AT unless you referring to Fit.

Honda program all the same throughout their range of cars either equipped with cvt or auto. Be it going up slope or down slope the gb will shift down a gear ratio to give you more power or to prevent free falling if you are going down a slope.

Like I mentioned before it's not just about the hardware. It's the software that makes the difference.

Hardware being the gearbox and software being the program that controls the gearbox.

You comfused?

This is the first time they bring in Auris and Auris is Made in UK.

Last time, Yaris 1.5 was made in Thailand. This time round, Yaris engine is downsized to 1.3 CVT and Made in France.

Yaris = Vios hatch back

Aurius = Corolla hatch back (for European market)

That's why cannot just look at the hardware(gearbox). The software that govern it plays a major part.

I have to test drive to see how the cvt will react. Last time sucks doesn't mean this time won't improve.

Unfortunately there's no aftermarket gearbox tuners out there or a "piggyback" for the gearbox ecu. Otherwise ppl can choose to reprogram the gearbox to respond differently. Anyway ppl can't do this coz a lot of cars are starting to use "fly-by-wire" systems. Which means the engine, gas pedal and gearbox are linked to give the driver the best response.

For me if want to take off fast, just step fully on the accelerator regardless what type of gear box. [grin]

when i went rervist in camp and drove with my army boots, my right foot automatically went pedal to metal!!!!

oh yes, now i remember this was exactly what my bro told me when he had a CVT City!!

That's why I always have a pair of "driving" (Converse all star canvas) shoes in my car. Slippers, dress, work leather shoes, army boots just don't make it.

Luckily, I don't have to take a ride in your car. Imagine the smell will definitely knock me out. Haha!

I always find army boots just too 'big' for cars pedal. When i drove with my army boots in a car, seems like i could not control my foot strength on the pedal. Lol.

No way I can drive with army boots 'cos my car got three pedals; gas and brake are quite close together. Even my office leather shoes also cannot operate properly. Only canvas shoes give the best feel and control.

Yes for the 2nd Gen Jazz.

the 1 I tested was in Mid 2006 at Kah motor. 1st Gen Jazz 1.3. Quite sure its CVT.
