Hi Guys,

 

Anyone living in Dubai and super familiar with it that know where to go and buy Rolex watch that gives discount like in Singapore ? I can get a 17% off for cash purchase in Singapore and I went to Dubai Mall and MOE Rolex boutique they only give like 10% and max 12% only regardless what method you pay and the price tag is the same for Singapore and Dubai.

 

I seriously felt the branded stuff here not cheaper at all :(

Sharing my driving experience in UAE (Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, Dubai)

In general, pleasant drive. Very much like USA - wide roads, many intersections, well connected. In general, less heavy traffic

Highway speed limit 120 km/h (rental car chimes at this speed). Most vehicles tend to travel just slightly above this speed limit (unlike some NSHW speed demons)

Got a Mazda 6 for 8 days ~SGD360. Bought external insurance ~SGD80.

1) Al Ain
a) Picked up car from Europcar. Waited ~20 min
b) Drove to Al Ain. Lunch at Al Mallah. Al Ain Palace Museum. Oasis
c) Mecure - stunning views
d) Parking plentiful and free

2) Abu Dhabi
a) street parking AED15 per day
b) Heritage Village - very few lots nearby. Big & free parking lots ~15 to 20 min walk away
c) Marina Mall - free & plentiful parking
d) Sheikh Zayed Mosque (south car park) - free parking
e) Yas Viceroy - free parking. Great views of race track and Marina
f) Yas Mall - free parking

3) Dubai
Made a few wrong turns. Many intersections but manageable.
a) Global village
i) free parking very far away
ii) cheap parking, nearer and plentiful
iii) VIP parking with red carpet and tea
b) Kite beach (street parking)
c) Night safari (opted for pickup instead of driving to site)
d) Miracle Garden (parking next to garden)
e) Mall of Emirates (free parking); Sheikh Zayed Rd (car showrooms)
f) Burj Khalifa (Hard to find parking in the evening; huge car parks)
g) Arabian Tea House (parked in old building about 10 min walk away), Deira (parked at Gold Souk Parking Building)
h) Autodrome
i) JBR (parked in one of those hotels)
j) Creek Park (open air carpark about 10 min walk away)
k) Atlantis The Palm (told guard I wanted to visit Nasimi beach)
l) CityWalk
m) Returned car to Europcar

Well, after all, it's a Muslim country.

 

Nope, don't think we went to DWD.

 

Forgot to mention we visited Emirates National Auto Museum too.

 

Reached the gate of SBH Royal Auto Gallery (http://sbhrag.com) but not open to public.

Dubai has a massive airport though.  When we flew to London via Dubai once, we had a 3 hour stopover.  Managed to get a taste of ShakeShack, and also had to take an airport bus when transferring from one terminal to another.  Quite an experience, in the middle of the night.
