Any one know about the new Infiniti Q50

It's always good to have GPS Nav built-in. As every one who has used a GPS would soon realise the trick is in the accuracy of the map. And this is where we in SG will have a problem because of the small market and consequently, it becomes a pain to update the map and to even have a good map. To top it off, the constant changes to our roads do not help.

The good news is, there's solution.

That is if you can forget about the built-in nav and use the good old Garmin, whose prices have come down tremendously and capabilities improved drastically.

educated points bro. alternative is to install the Andriod -addon module...it comes with google maps and function like a tablet..except its installed into the console. qite cool..

one of the guys in the infiniti Q50 singapore facebook group has it.

Yah RFT sucks..

Think better to just get the premium model first, and then when the stock 17in tyres are due for change, upgrade to after market 19in, with normal tyres! More bang for the buck. That's what I am planning to do. :)

Don't really need RFT or even spare tyre these days, unless one plans to go JB..

good thinking bro.

the unfortunate thing is drivers now are so poorly educated in automotive basics...

they just think some magic tyre or got spares means everything good.

so if RFT sidewall damage (most common for RFT ironically) , also no use.

spare tyre.you know how to change? change before ? never then dont bother.

call trusted mobile tow give specs of your tyres and rims.

alternative...use foam if minor leak, roll to nearest station.

quite sad the singapore Q50 crowd has rather poor knowledge of cars.

i already see that in the bmw forums with more noobs ...always tot the

Nismo guys will be here....instead..boring....taking about side mirrors,

and nitty gritty stuff.

Then I have to say everything's subjective.

A4 is EOL, so it's q crappy as you say.

The A6 in the US have all of what is known as the "Ultra" in Singapore, and more. So bigger centre retractable screen (with Google maps), and the centre dashboard screen has color unlike the base pre-facelift SG one. I don't know what the FL one looks like. Car also has a sim card slot so your car becomes a wifi hot spot and has all the associated 4G / LTE functionalities - all these from 3 years ago.

I'm definitely not a fan of BMW interiors. Looks like the same dashboard and centre buttons for the past 15 years (I had a 535 estate in Geneva back in 2008). Maybe some people like it that way.

Merc I find ok, but personally inferior to Audi at the C- / E-class level unless you splash out for the high-spec versions. The Burmeister speakers and textured black wood are amazing. I think in SG it has to be the AMG trims which have that.

you have to be joking....in my experience audi has one of the worse interior makes among the premium...maybe the asian stock and the US are diff...but you drives a bmw or a merc..there is no way in the last decade an audi comes into thoer range for interior. only the A8 is very comparable with the respective class. the A4 is crap with the A6 slightly better but worse among its class in furnishing, features, and incabin noise.

A4 is EOL, so it's q crappy as you say.

During a couple of weeks in Germany a few months ago my colleague ended up with both a brand new A4 and a 3-Series Touring..........the A4 wins hands down - no contest.

The new model A4 is almost the class leader except still for the badge, where Merc somehow manages to hang on. Technically, though, it's better than a C-Class.

The 3-Series, which I drove as well, was rubbish verging on the side of matching the Focus Wagon I had got, though with slightly better quality materials. The software, maps etc. in the Focus were a lot better and even connecting to my phone was simple whereas after three days, we couldn't get a proper connection in the BM.

With Merc and BM I don't like how the info screen on a lot of models just sticks out the dash, like an afterthought "Oh, we need a screen" type thing. The new Audis, Jags, Q50 etc. all have better integration (hardware) even if software still needs some work. I hope Wearnes' work on the software side really does pay off and we get one step closer.

Thanks for the info. I went to the Infiniti Q50 Singapore FB group and was informed that the add-on was from Taobao. Will need some one capable to install it though.

I don't know about you but I've generally felt Audi interior quality to be nice and design-wise extremely classy and upmarket, even if their minimalism results in a look not particularly full of "flourishes".

If you ignore the EOL (as mentioned) A4 and look in an A3 which is a better representative of their current interior trending, it's very nice. More stylish than even Merc's MFA cars imo.

BMW has a nice tidy look that I like though it's a bit dated feeling.

go for it because of the 19" RFT?? you guys need to really beef up your automotive 101... RFT sucks... people who knows cars dont go out to pay more for RFT.

My friend, please do not misinterpret my post. I am not a fan of RTF myself.

I am comparing tyre sizes, 19" (19/245/45) vs 17" (17/225/55) where the 19" tyres offers better performance (apple to apple).

heheh..sorry bro. misunderstanding. if really need to get 19" ...just go non-rft.

to buy the sports version...the DAS and sports kits are better add-ons to consider.

but seriously my wife sports version is not much better than my friend's premium version...

only my old lady like the handling...i find it super fake...its not stupid like the old intellidrive but

it needs time to get use to it ..not possible for people who drive 2 cars in the household...

maybe the A6 for US are different. i had the old A6 afew years ago..the interior was very basic.

yes, the bmw interior is very old design liao...i wanted the E class before we decided on the 5...for me

the newer audis still dont look for the interior....maybe the A5/A7 but the regular A4/6 is basic compared to the basic E and 5. the Q70 looks very ah pek too..

How often do you guys see this car on the road?

I average about one every 2 to 3 days.

And that's because I am quite consciously looking out for it already. [laugh]

Not sure I even see that many per month yet........but I'm a hermit in my own square mile - I don't get out very much, office within walking distance of my place.

Quite a number of times when I see it is in the North, around YCK area where I stay.

Have seen all the colours except for red I think, so I am not seeing the same car again and again.

Maybe the brand's profile in SG currently appeals more to the frugal northerners like me lah, who look for good value for money.

Who are not as badge conscious as bros in the core central district?? [:p]

Just kidding, don't flame me! [bounce1]
