Hi-end Components w/o amp

Recommended Posts

I was thinking to just add an amplifier to the existing stock setup coz I do not want to change the factory headunit. Stock speakers sound good enough.

I browse through many brands and model looking for a compact size amp. Youtube got a lot of DIY videos on how to connect to the stock HU w/o adding to many wires using another control unit that converts the speaker signal to RCA cables, to which connects to the amp. DIY scared splice the wrong wires. LoL...

Anymore lobangs other dan the freelance Ah Meng? LoL...

I no need very good amp.

2ch good enough I think.

Stock spkr wattage pretty low to warrant an amp rite? N if u don't need very gd amp, then better leave them untouched.

Hi bro,

Dont mind elaborating?

I just collected my car and I am pretty satisfy with the stock speakers setup, so I reckon I will just go for a powered active low profile sub to "complete"the sound.

SO you have a recommended brand/model and installer to recommend too?

I mainly listen to mandarin songs and rock/indies music.

I dont like boom box. I like my bass to have a lot of depth, slam and layers.

If u like bass w lotsa depth, size does matter.

OK then, forget about depth ... hehehe ..

I only looking for those low profile active sub.put under the seat.

underseat type i usin, have bass but not match amp+box combo level. then again, those type on too loud staging out - can hear / feel like bass comin from back / boot of car. pioneer brand quite ok. have deep pocket go for focal one, can almost match amp-box type.

Thanks Bro for your advice.

I heard a blaupunkt unit before, the bass is more than acceptable.

I think I will go for the new pioneer one ... had good experience with Pioneer component spkers before.

Hi

The brand that I would actually recommend is not available and is a passive sub with its own box: JL Microsub 8".

The Blaupunkt powered sub I have kind of over powered the bass depending on how it was placed. Conventional wisdom is place the sub to fire against the boot corner - that is okay if you don't have enough bass - it was enhance the "volume" but not the quality. I had to turn the sub to fire downwards onto the car chassis and then the bass was tighter, after all the bass I wanted was the earth shaking type.

Most subs are competent, but installation is 50% of the sound, so a competent installer is just as important. I use Xtremez at Ubi blk53. I'm sure there are a lot of others out there. Music quality I'm talking is independent of the type of music, meaning it will perform with any kind of music.

Take a look at the JL Micro sub 8". You might have to get them ebay, but they are serious subs in a small package.
