Some info that I think it's worth to share with everybody - where do you prefer the rear sensor to be installed - On the rear door (since it has no bumper)? Or more towards the side? The picture in the Honda website shows its more towards the side.

IMHO it should be side better.the connect will loosen after u open and close the door a few times.thats what happen to my rear camera for my freed. Now image of camera is running around koyak

Comparing Stepwgn ad Biante:

Stepwgn cost the same as Biante

Stepwgn has lower road tax, which translate to $5280K saving over 10 years.

Stepwgn has better fuel efficiency,17km/L vs 13.5km/L, which means 20% saving in fuel cost, which is another $5K saving over 10 years.

Stepwgn has Honda's reliability and popularity among the worshops in SG.

Biante's 2nd row is more flexible.

Stepwhn's 3rd row is more flexible.

Stepwgn is PI...more scary.

Some thoughts:

Stepwgn has no rear bumper, and its door extends all the way down. This means that the long door cannot be opened sufficiently high enough to access the boot when parked against a wall in our MCP. Hence, the waku waku door is the only way to access the boot. Without the bumper, this car is very low, hence, passenger can actually enter and exit from the waku waku door.

For FC, I would put 9km/L for Biante and 10km/L for Stepwagn as real-life figures. My previous 1.4L turbo mpv could return 10km/L with 1.5tonne curb-weight, as compare to this Stepwgn with 1.5L turbo engine and 1.7tonne curb-weight. So the difference is going to be very minor. The Japan figures cannot be trusted at all unless you always travel without aircon and with driver only and without traffic jam.

Β

The waku waku door is going to be costly even in slight rear collision as the door-within-a-door could jam up and not usable with some dent. And replacement parts would mean long delay with current low sale volume. Otherwise there are a lot of things likeable in the Stepwagn.

Β

The 1.5L turbo engine as now is also untested in any other current models. I would not touch it with a 10 feet pole knowing the trouble it could spell if there is any potential issues, definitely not willing to try it with PIs. Even with ADs I also would be thinking thrice.

Β

I am not condemning this ride, do not get me wrong. But I would certain encourage potential buyers to wait for awhile if possible to see how the new 1.5L turbo engine pan out with other new AD models being put on the road. But that is only if you can afford to wait. Else please think carefully.

Β

Edit. After looking at the video of Stepwagn on to access the rear row through the waku waku door, I am alarmed at the space you have at the boot when you need to collapse the seat into the floor for access, which would take up the whole corresponding boot area. Effectively you would end up with only 1/2 the boot space to put barang barang on long-term basis, the side that is for sitting. If you need to carry pram or golf bags, that would be a consideration. So must think pro and con carefully.

Heartlander, nice to see a posting from you in this thread. I found your earlier posts on Biante experience highly beneficial when I was shopping for an MPV, the Biante remains a very competitive option in this market segment.

Β

The concerns you raised for the parts replacement and engine/transmission reliability are valid concerns. I think generally true with all PI cars. Only mitigation is to drive safely and have some faith in Honda engineers :)

Β

FC wise, the manufacturer figures are indeed near impossible to attain, real world consumption would be 20-30% lower. That said, with the CVT geared to ~1800 rpms for 100 km/h cruising, I would hazard a guess that mixed driving for the honda could be better than 10km/l, at least, that's what I hope. We'll confirm once we get some real world experience.

Β

HK forumers feedback so far seem to be generally quite positive wrt to power and fuel consumption, the most popular colour by far is the signature purple for the Spada version.

Thanks for the compliments. Trust that I do not share with malice, as I also like this Stepwagn as with the Triplets.

Β

My previous experience with a CVT ride does not translate to much better FC compare to 4AT alternative then, but sure hope it bear out for this Stepwagn with improvement in CVT technology.

Β

I would definitely love to own something that is fresh out of oven, all other things that are of concerns being comparable. Too bad we have to choose side, not that it would make us enemies and can't share our opinions.

Β

But it is certainly shiok to pay only $700 on annual road tax for such a huge car, haha.

Β

Measure your Fuel efficiency too.

Β

Am currently driving a Freed for 7 years, perfect car for family, that's why decided to go for Freed big brother.

Driven all the way to Penang, Cameron Highlands, Kuantan, and everywhere else in Malaysia.

Very good car.

Β

So Honda though its pricy, but it is reliable and economical.

Edix ! I love this model but too bad there is no new face lift to the current Edix. Otherwise, it will be ideal for my family of 6.

Β

I guess the one with 21k OMV must have been brought into Singapore as an used Japanese domestic vehicle since its original registration date is shown to be 18-May-2015. The importer could submit an arbitrary vehicle value taking into consideration the depreciation for the used car.

Β

PI told me that the OMV of my Spada is 24+k.

Btw anyone got ask if can indent honda sense (eng version)?

Β

If you look at the Odyssey thread, Honda Sensing is available in the Odyssey Absolute model (not available in the Kah model) is only available in Japanese and cannot be converted to English. However, most of the Honda Sensing features such Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Road Sign Recognition is by default active and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) can be easily switched on using the steering controls.

Β

Hope this info on Honda Sensing helps you decide on whether to add it to your Stepwagon.
